Downs, Gregg, and Olivo all reject arbitration. Frasor accepts. All expected.
Looks like we will have 5 extra draft picks (Buck included) in the 1st 2 rounds of the draft this year. Not bad.

Some have speculated that Lawrie will be used in a package to acquire Grienke from the Royals.

I love Brett Lawrie, if we end up keeping Lawrie, he's the type of player we need to keep taking risks on. High ceiling types. Has raw power and decent speed and also a very good athlete. Can be a 30-20 player in the Majors. His bat isn't the problem though, defensively, he is atrocious at 2b. He might need to end up in a corner OF spot or 1st base which severely minimizes his value. If Butter can manage to make him at least an average defender at 2b or 3b..we have a player.

And then he trades Napoli for some old pitcher that I've never heard of.

It was more clearing space. I'm sure AA didn't want to spend 5-6 million on a DH/C. We have a lot of catchers in the system that are ready to play. I can see more trades to come from this.. or maybe we sign Vlady?

And for the record, the Jays got Frank Francisco.. he'll most likely be our closer. Not the greatest numbers last season but battled injury. He's a flame-thrower and an intimidating presence on the hill. Let's hope for the best! I wonder what AA's next move will be.. you know more is coming for sure!

Love the move for Frank Fransisco, I'm a fan...Frank has a real live arm, when he is on, there aren't any teams in the majors that can catch up to his heat, the knock on him is consistency and health, but if he can get past those issues we potentially have a go to closer in the pen, if nothing else is saves money, and adds more depth to the bull pen.

I agree and I love the arms down in the pen too. I can see Frasor being dealt and someone like Vlady coming in. We need a 3rd baseman though.. I wonder what's gonna happen next! Pretty exciting to be a Jays fan right now!

The Jays are apparently grooming Lawrie to be a 3B, no idea if they have anymore immediate plans to shore up the hot corner.

Well hopefully EE does a decent job this year. Mantains his pop and gets the OB% and batting average up a bit. His defense is a little weak too but he's fairly reliable over at 3rd. I've heard great things about Lawrie.. hopefully he lives up to his reputation!

I forgot about this thread all along... nobody has thoughts on Bautista's extension? I personally think it's a decent sized/length contract...
A few deals that I kinda like:
Podsednik - I've tracked him all season long in 2009 since I had him on my team most of the season. While his SB productions way down, he still managed to keep his avg .300+ with some speed left in him but since we have Davis we probably won't be seeing much of Scott leading off
Rauch - big man that took over Nathan's CL spot for a bit of time for the Twins last season. He did an okay job but as a floater who can SV and hold who is big and strong could come in handy
