Some straggling pick left behind, but other than that, good draft everyone. There is no open period for claiming players until after the waiver draft is complete.

we can claim players without contracts after that point?

Only players with contracts can be claimed, as far as my understanding goes.

There's obviously more to it than that. The CBA is a bit out of date but we are working on getting it updated.

The waiver draft is only reserved for players under contract that aren't possession of a team in our league...prospects or veterans.

Then again, that's where my confusion with the Bunz situation lies. He's age eligible for this draft but he signed his ELC so that told me he isn't eligible for the entry draft any more. Not to drudge that up again... ;)

I've never seen it where you can claim an unsigned prospect...they'd have to be drafted in our entry draft. Any 2012 NHL draft picks that weren't drafted in our draft can only be picked in the waiver draft if they sign their ELCs. If not, they just become eligible for our 2013 draft as long as they are age eligible.

not those who are still eligible for the next entry draft.

Shoalzie wroteCOLONThe waiver draft is only reserved for players under contract that aren't possession of a team in our league...prospects or veterans.
nope, and it's never been like that.

btw, from the entry draft thread:
- eligibility
All bbkl-free players (i.e. players not owned by any BBKL team) born between january 1st 1992 and september 15th 1994 are eligible for selection in the 2012 BBKL Entry Draft.
Additionally, bbkl-free players born between january 1st 1991 and december 31st 1991 that have not played a season in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old are eligible as well.
All other bbkl-free players are eligible for the waiver draft instead.

NO window available after the Entry draft to pick up draft eligible players as free agents:

a player who is still eligible for the next BBKL Entry draft may not be claimed unless he is signed by a NHL team.
If he is NHL-signed, the player is eligible for the waiver draft and will become available as a free agent only once the waiver draft is completed.
After bbkl-rosters submission, NHL-signed players still eligible for next year bbkl entry draft will not be bbkl-FAs anymore and will be reserved for the next entry draft.

Those bbkl-free players that after the 2012 entry draft are not eligible anymore for the following year Entry draft become eligible for the upcoming waiver draft no matter if they are NHL-signed or not.

and from the last waiver draft (dates need to be shifted forward 1yr) :
Any bbkl-free player not eligible for future Entry drafts is eligible for the Waiver draft. Hence, automatically eligible for the waiver draft are bbkl-free players who were:
- born before january 1st 1992, if they played a season in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
- born before january 1st 1991, if they never played in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old

Additionally, bbkl-free players still eligible for the next entry draft but already signed to a NHL contract are eligible as well.

Notes

- be sure to have all your players listed on your roster (both on CBS and your forum team page), including the ones recently drafted. Those missing will be considered FA and eligible for the Waiver draft as a result. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3943&start=20#p52644

- after the Waiver draft, the unowned NHL-signed players will become available as free agents; however, after rosters submission, those still eligible for the 2012 Entry draft will join the pool of players reserved for it.

yes, if he's not entry draft eligible anymore:
All other bbkl-free players are eligible for the waiver draft instead.
that has always been the case btw (see previous Waiver drafts).
