This.

Shiv and Kareem: I feel like you guys are setting it up so that IF the Americans beat Team Canada on Friday..you guys will play it off like you were never cheering for Team Canada and that you always wanted Phil, JVR and the Americans to win the gold anyways.
This is exactly what I have been doing, there is nothing to "play off." I want Team USA to win at noon today, point blank.

What boggles my mind is how you are still a leaf fan then..because they always make the right personnel moves?
What boggles my mind is that you believe there is a parallel to be drawn between the two. And to revise my earlier point, I am a Toronto Maple Leafs fan first, a Dion Phaneuf fan second, a Phil Kessel fan third, and I think you see where I'm going with this. If this bothers anyone, great.

This thread is all kinds of embarrassing. Let's see some fucking patriotism! Canada or bust. There is no silver lining to a Canada loss, silver linings are just having a positive outlook on a loss. However, at the end of the day, a loss is a loss.

Note: Lupul, Bernier and Phaneuf shouldn't even be in the conversation for team Canada snubs as long as there are players the caliber of Giroux, Seabrook and Crawford (I think bernier is better but less proven) are left off the team. Both will be welcome additions for the World Championships but aren't close to snubs for team Canada.
Phaneuf and Bernier should have been in the conversation. Bernier has the best stats of any Canadian goalie, and Dion Phaneuf is one of the leading minute munchers in the league, and one of the ten best defenders. Lupul hasn't made a strong case this year, but my argument pertained to him being invited to the summer camp, and the two seasons prior to this year he was top 5 in PPG among Canadian forwards, that absolutely warrants consideration.

P.S. Hamhuis is shit. Canucks GM Out!

Nice game, Canada...but I'll pull for the Swedish Wings on Sunday.

The Americans need to develop more defensemen...the biggest talent gap was on defense. Their ability to skate and retrive the puck and disrupt the dump and chase game and to get involved in the play offensively...they're difference-makers. Quick was fantastic. I think he was the best player in the game. The American forwards are speedy and competitive but they don't have the collective skill the Canadians have. The overall quality of scoring chances and the amount of attack zone time made this seem like the most decisive 1-0 game I've seen in a while.

Giroux over Lupul
Lupul over Kunitz
Hell I would of brought Ryan Johansen over Chris Kunitz

Phaneuf should of been on that team
Ditto with Seabrook

Team is in the gold medal game - cannot say I've loved everyone's play, but the 7/8 Dman doesn't matter, we play 5 at full minutes... Ditto with the 12/13/14th forward, they do not matter either, yes IMO we'd be better with G there, but I say the proof is in he outcome, and this team just played a picture perfect defensive game, it was stifling, unrelenting and complete. If they do that for another game, epic; we have like 9 goal-less forwards in the tourney, and I think they've played exceptionally.
