BBKL by the numbers update week 16

Long overdue run through the team totals and interesting league numbers.
Mad respect is due for both Mike and Steve, sharing the title for best record @ 13-1-1, no other team has 12 weeks won. On the opposite end of that spectrum, Kareem has only managed 1 win this season, shocking. Now he is not in last place because he does have 3 ties, so similar to how the NHL can hid a team's failings by giving out loser points, we do as well Dallas and Detroit are but stuck at two wins.
Before we get into the scoring categories, it's always helpful to add the context of GP. This one is a run away for Steve's LAK, IMO a combination of a deep roster, great GMing research, and a lot of luck. Using the 'mike' metric for 3gp per player per week, Steve has managed +105. On the opposite end of the scale, the Stars (666 ....eeek) & the Canucks (669) who are a -144 & -141. Given a 249gp difference it only makes sense that our scoring categories repeat the same gap.
----------------------------- Scoring Categories----------------------------
1.+/- is led by CAM's Bruin-filled Bruins at +73, Luke's Jets are an amazing -79 which is in a large part due to the -25 Yak posted while he was playing for the Jets.
2.GWG has a tie for the lead, COL and MIN have pocketed 28 goals of the deciding variety, meanwhile Dallas has just 8.
3.Goals of the ordinary variety are led by Mike's Leafs, with 201. The margin to 2nd place (LAK 168) is almost the total of Scott's Wings (56).
4.Assists continued to be led by Mik's (no e) Predators who have touched the puck prior to a goal a total of 290 times, closing in on 3x the last place Wings who seem to believe that passing is over-rated (102).
5.Goals + Assists = Points, Steve is 2nd in both, enough to be first in the combined measure, (442), followed closed by the #1 team in Assists (NSH) and #1 team in Goals (TOR).
6.When the ice is tilted, Mik's predators are a dominant group, with 151 STPTS, a notable 28 more than 2nd ranking LAK (133), this time the gap more than covers the Wings total of 18.
7.SOG, not to be confused with shot attempts (which some consider to be a much more valuable measure), is led by Mike's Leafs, although the league is tightly bunched right down to, Scott's Wings @ 710.
8.Hits are now in the sole possession of Mike's Leafs, @ 1406, followed by CAM's Bruins (1217) & Kyle's Rangers (1201), for all the scoring the Pred's due, they don't take the body very often (689), Kareem's Canucks are not doing much of anything this year, including the rough stuff (727).
9.PIMS - Penalties in Minutes, are led by scum bag Maple Leafs (676) followed by the respectfully rough Lightning (589) and unsportsmanlike Blue jackets (584), CAR, NSH, CHI and PIT can all share the Sedin award for wishing it was a co-ed sport.
10.BS, blocked shots or bull-shit, is owned by Shooker's Sharks (838) and my Lightning (794) but there are 10 very competitive shot blocking teams above 690. Pete's stars prefer to get out of the way of the frozen cow dung, with just 315 shots hitting his players on the year.
11.FOW to the surprise of no one is led by teams with an envious group down the middle, TOR/TBL/MIN/NJD/PIT/SJS - and proving youth just don't having the savy vet experience necessary to own the dot, teams with young middle men are at the bottom of the BBKL for possession following the drop of the puck, DAL/CHI/WPH/VAN.
12. Heavily related to GP, SHTOI is led by Steve's LAK, with 1733 minutes of penalty kill, followed by Shiv's Penguins, and Berg's Devils, DAL, WPH & CAR not spending much time down a man.
13. Goalie wins find Lee & Dave at the top with 33 and 32 respectfully. The Stars have managed just 7 (more weeks w/o a win than with).
14. Likely hinting at a GGP issue, Pete's Stars LEAD the BBKL in GAA @ 1.91, followed closely by Mike's Leafs (1.95), Canes, Devils and Wings all average over 3 goals against per game.
15. SV% is a very tight category at the top end, TOR/BOS/MTL/NYR all between .927 & .925. So if you're in the east and you want to win goaltending, better throw up some solid #. We have two means averaging less than 90% of shots saved, the Canes and the Wings.
16. The always-elusive Shutout is led by Mike's Leafs (8, or every 2nd week), meanwhile PIT, VAN and WSH haven't posted one all season.
----------------------------- Other comments----------------------------
Sometime in the last 4 weeks TOR has smashed every team rather consistently, and now has a positive record against the entire league (4647-1743-570) with Steve and I his most win-garbing opponents (91 & 96 wins respectively). Shoalzie`s Wings have the worst sum record, 1590-4679-691, getting the most wins against the Stars (98-109-33), and against a playoff team, the 6th place Preds (66-152-22).
Current playoff match-ups: TOR vs NYR,
PIT vs MTL,
TBL vs BOS,
WSH vs NYI,
&
LAK vs PHX,
MIN vs NSH,
STL vs COL
and SJS vs ANA.
which project as:
TOR win, same as regular season
PIT & MTL tie (107-104 on the year), MTL won their regular season week
Tight TBL Win (118-97),
close WSH vs NYI (+10 WSH),
LAK win
MIN win, although NSH won their earlier meeting this year.
STL & COL tie (110-106), STL won meeting this year handily.
SJS win (although ANA is 1-0 on the year)
Just 5 more match-ups (8 weeks I think) in the BBKL regular season.
