Is that where Toronto 2 would go, Markham? Sure would be interesting how this would affect BBKL. How does NHL expansion work? How many players do teams have to make available to the expansion draft? With potentially 4 teams coming, that would make for very interesting rosters.

Yeah it's been debated in city council here for a while, that is subsidizing an NHL-ready arena.

You can protect

1 goaltender
5 defensemen
9 forwards

Option 2

You can protect

2 goaltenders
3 defensemen
7 forwards

Teams get 26 picks each and must include at least 3 goaltenders, 8 defensemen and 13 forwards.

A team's unprotected list must include a defenseman that has played in 40 games in the season just prior to the expansion draft or 70 games in the previous two seasons. It must also include a goaltender that played in 10 games in the season prior to the expansion draft or 25 games the prior two seasons (minimum 30 minutes to count as a game).

No team can lose more than one goaltender or one defenseman.

A player who is selected in the expansion draft receives $6,000 from the acquiring club plus moving expenses.

Guy i follow on Twitter. Dominic Tiano. He also is a Bruins guy and big in junior hockey. He says there are no expansion parts of new CBA so that is was format last time around.
