Buffalo Block
Buffalo Block
First Sabres block of the 14/15 season
Have talked trade with plenty of GMs, but figured I would shop a few valuable players and see what's out there.
Turris - #1C 1st PP, 2nd PK 199FOW in 22 games
Bollig - #s down slightly from last season, but cheap and a great source of hits and PIMs
Clarkson - PIMS, hits, 2nd PP and has been playing much better this season. More value as a BBKLer than NHLer
Oshie - Healthy now, coming off a G 2A night with 5 SOG. All around contributor, 1st PP 2nd PK
Tlusty - 26 year old 1st line W, 10G, another all around contributor and up to a career high 1:45 SHTOI per game
Demers - Stats and TOI have seen a big increase since joining Dallas. 33 hits, 22 blocks, PP and PK and trending up
McDonagh - One of the top D last season, first game back today, A, 22:11 3:37PP 6:16PK 3SOG, 3 hits, 3 blocks
2016 1st LAK
2016 1st BUF
Depth Players Available for futures for teams looking for GP
Connauton - Getting more icetime in CLB, only 24 and was over a point per game in his WHL career with success in the AHL and still has decent NHL potential
Megna - 9Gs in 17 AHL games. Called up to Pens and has 10 hits in 3 games of limited ice time
Hunt - Made the Oilers and got into 6 games playing 20:10 on average. 15 points in 9 AHL games make it very likely he sees NHL ice again.
Available, but unlikely to move either due to me overvaluing or due to market value not meeting what I think it should be
Stewart
Benn
Perreault
Despres
Savard
Lehtera
Probably a waste of your time asking
Crosby
Hall
Kane
Horvat
Gibson
Gudas
Gudbranson
Zadorov
Nurse
Pulock
Not really looking for anything in particular, but I'm the top PIMs team and among the leaders in hits so I'd sacrifice some of that for offence if a team is interested. Not interested in 30+ at this time, I will eventually shift gears and look to add veterans, but at this point in time younger players appeal more to me as they hold more value when I decide to compete and trade them for vets.

Re: Buffalo Block
Would likely need another top pair D back in return or a top 4+
Eakin + Emelin for McDonagh + Lander
Mcdonagh is 25 and locked up until 2019 at 4.7 so he won't come cheap.

Couldn't make a McDonagh deal work, unfortunately not interested in much from your team.Matthew wroteCOLONSame question from me
Re: Buffalo Block
thanks but I have no interest in trading away a centre outright to pay for a D. Aside scoring Emelin puts up similar periph as MCDBruyns wroteCOLONWould likely need another top pair D back in return or a top 4+

Make it Perreault instead of Lander and we have a deal

no interest in throwing away H2H numbers for value at this time

Re: Buffalo Block
He kinda valued Spurgeon the same way as emelin when I asked for McDonagh. Looks like someone will over pay to get McDonagh.kimmer wroteCOLONactually nm... I'm gonna keep my guys. Re: Buffalo Block
I might keep him too, only testing the waters since this is the first time I've owned him while healthy. He is a 25 year old captain locked up for 4 more years at only 4.7 coming off a season where he was 6th in goals, 17th in points, 14th in SOG, 23rd in STP, 30th in SHTOI and 43rd in blocks. That's elite in enough stats that I think he is worth more than Spurgeon so when you said you wouldn't do Spurgeon 1 for 1 I was surprised, he has had better stats this season, but I chalk that up to SSS.LeanMachine wroteCOLONHe kinda valued Spurgeon the same way as emelin when I asked for McDonagh. Paul your retracted counter was fair and I almost offered that to begin with, but think Perreault will start putting up points after a slow start and I lose too much offence for periphs and I'm already strong there.
Re: Buffalo Block
Not that interested in Sproul. High risk/reward as he will either be a very valuable Barrie type of D or his offence won't be there at the NHL level and will be more like Ellis at best.KapG wroteCOLONEhrhoff and Sproul for mcd
Hamonic/Schenn would be of more interest than Ehrhoff, but don't think we could find an add that works for both of us.

Re: Buffalo Block
Matt you want me to pay for what he did last season and that just ain't going to happen. Spurgeon is the better player for stats+contract+age. Just look it up. McDonagh hit his peak last season. McDonagh certainly has the sexy name brand though. Someone will pay for that I agree.

Re: Buffalo Block
McDonagh is the same age as Spurgeon is locked up long term and will likely be cheaper for 2016-2019. Don't know of many D who have a great season at 24 and that's there peak and then they decline.
Stats are better this season, but McDonagh has played 12 games which is why I referred to last season, since it is a much better way to gauge what type of player he is then using a small sample size. Anyways no point in me continuing to defend this position since I think 29 other GMs would prefer McDonagh to Spurgeon and comparing Spurgeon's 17 games to McDonagh's 12 isn't enough games to draw conclusions.
I'm happy you prefer Spurgeon and I think he is a very good D so I have no issue at all with you wanting to hold onto him.

Re: Buffalo Block
I would also agree comparing 17 to 12 games, ya Gms would say McDonagh. He is the proven choice. I knew this from the trade block thread I created for Spurgeon a week or so ago. But that was never position I was defending.
Spurgeon is on the way up. Constantly improving every year; and most importantly THIS YEAR. Since returning from injury, he's been playing 27-29 mins a night. That's unreal for a kid his age. McDonagh has taken a step back, even with his injury. And that isn't even a real knock on McDonagh. The guy had a sur-real year last season; it would hard for anyone to duplicate. Point is: You're asking for Spurgeon + two high end prospects in return for McDonagh; you'd think this was one year ago. Spurgeon is MUCH better than anyone gives credit here and McDonagh in CURRENTLY on the down. Not saying he can't turn it around as he is young.
My advice would be if you want the big return you want, hold onto him till he gets hot; playing like the McDonagh we are all familiar with.
