GWT - Week #20

Anaheim Ducks vs Columbus Blue Jackets - ANA stopped NYR 7 Match Win streak last week, making their own 4 Matches to keep the playoff hope alive. CLB Mutilated the lowly Oilers, but it is too little too late in the East. Moving up in the Standings may give the BJ's hope for next season.
Calgary Flames vs Carolina Hurricanes - The Flames had a good week last week to stave off ANA & VAN. Teows was a one man wrecking crew in the circle. This Hurricanes have a lot of Faceoff guys and could be trouble as they matchup well against Carolina across the board. Carolina is hot too, winning their last 3 matches.
Edmonton Oilers vs Philadelphia Flyers - This Matchup has more value than an outsider may recognize. These two rebuilding teams are currently ranked 26th/27th. To the loser goes the Spoils, Gentlemen.
Los Angeles Kings vs New York Rangers - The Rangers finally moved into the playoffs, and then lost to ANA. They were lucky last week as the team in 9th, NJD also had an off week. With a tougher opponent this week the Rangers may lose 2 weeks running. These Rangers seem to enjoy their own mediocrity. LA, still undefeated, had its 3rd close call since the beginning of January.
Arizona Coyotes vs New York Islanders - Islanders had a sufficient week, making up ground on both the Caps and Pens - Nothing impressive, but that's a team made up of NHL Sharks for ya.
San Jose Sharks vs New Jersey Devils - NJD lost ground on the NYR for 8th. The Devils were 3-3 with no goalie over the last month and a half. With Howard finally back we may see the dangerous team of months past re-emerge. SJS managed to show they have may have some late season bite last week after downing the Pens - perhaps thanks to the sharks new PHI goalie system.
Vancouver Canucks vs Pittsburgh Penguins - Van had a convincing Win last week and moved up a slot in the standings. Let's hope they keep up this late season hot streak. Everyone is rooting for you! The Pens have just 1 win in their last 4 matches.
Boston Bruins vs Colorado Avalanche - Terrible goaltending last week by the Bruins. Big Bad Ferocious Bears? Nah, Winnie the Pooh. COL had a great week with perfect timing (12-2 W) to create a former 1 point division lead to a 10 point lead.
Buffalo Sabres vs Chicago Blackhawks - CHI is 1-2-2 over its last 5. If the Blackhwaks really plan on contending for the BBKL Cup this season, some big late season moves may be in Order. The 7th place Sabres put some cushion room between themselves and 8th/9th. A good season this week may see them move into 6th.
Detroit Red Wings vs St. Louis Blues - This Match has double the Value for the Blues, as they hold the Det 1st round pick. An Optimal match to both hold the Wings down and Bolster their own team past the Hawks into 7th.
Florida Panthers vs Nashville Predators - The Preds preyed on the Abysmal Bruins, to make it 8 straight Wins. They didn't make up ground on COL who had an easy matchup, but they did manage to show they are a late season contender with whom one should not trifle.
Montreal Canadiens vs Minnesota Wild - The Wild toppled the Atlantic Division leading Leafs Last week. Montreal easily handled the Blackhawks. This should be a good Match.
Ottawa Senators vs Dallas Stars - Both these teams left me Phone Messages this Week.
Tampa Bay Lightning vs Winnipeg Jets - Tampa had a strong week. The 10th place eastern conference team pulled ever so slightly closer to NJ & NYR who hold down 8th and 9th. This is an important match for both bubble teams, although word from the Jets front office is they have given up on the Playoffs this season, despite their current 9th seed in the West.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs Washington Capitals -GAME OF THE WEEK Toronto lost to Minny last week (1-1-2 vs Minny, PHI, COL, DAL the last 4). I've been receiving phone messages from bottom feeders this week requesting their opponent be switched to this once-upon-a-time Contender. Washington looks to Capitalize on a team seemingly without an identity. The 2 eastern Conference division leaders battle it out for 1st in the Conference.
