What are you all complaining about?

You guys are all saying burke is doing a horible job but look at who he has shipped out and who he has brought in.
People who have left:
Jason Blake
Alex Ponikarovski
Matt Stajan
Nik Antropov
Niklas Hagman
Dominic Moore
Pavel Kubina
Lee Stempniak (despite his miracle run at the end of the season he is still a plug)
Ian White (liked him but common Phaneuf)
Jamal Mayers
Anton Stralman
Alexander Steen
Jiri Tlusty
a few others as well but not very note worthy
Guys that have been brought in:
Dion Phaneuf
Phil Kessel
Tyler Bozak
Kris Versteeg
Cobly Armstrong
Francois Beachemin
Mike Komisarek
JS Giguere
Jonas Gustavsson
Luca Caputi
Jussi Rynnas
Brett Lebda
Marcel Mueller
Christian Hansen
Mike Brown
Colton Orr
Carl Gunnarsson (I know he didnt draft him, but he got him to come over)
also a couple great prospects in Kadri and Ross not to mention the others I have forgotten
What I am saying is that I find it sad that with all the talk of other fan bases hating the leafs, leaf fans are the biggest leaf haters. Its hasnt even been two years and burke has entirely changed the dinamic of that team. He has already made you a very difficult team to play against, one that is tough and hard working. IMO that is the first step to rebuilding and Burke has done that to a tee with speed and all the while landing some top end talent. You guys just have to have some patience because as an outsider of leaf nation, this is the first time I have viewed the leafs situation as optomistic in almost a decade.
rebuilds dont happen overnight and your team is going in the right direction. Just because Kaberle isnt out of the picture doesnt mean Burke has done a bad job. Burke just felt teams werent offering enough, what would you all be saying if he pulled off a halak like return for him? maybe that was all that was available and that this was one of those "some of the best trades are the ones you dont make".
Just wanted to put this out there so I could stop hearing all the complaining lol. Things are looking up be happy

but common Bryan, we leaf fans are the most die hard, truest, and best looking fan base in the world.
LOL
I love what Burke has ton, and I love that if he doesn't like what he's seeing he's perfectly fine walking away.

Who are "all of us guys"? I think Burke's done an excellent job. Sure, I wanted to see Kabs get dealt but I definitely didn't want Burke to just take the best offer for the sake of please Leafs Nation. I wanted a Bobby Ryan or James Neal.. a homerun type of deal that helps us up front now and up front later. I'm happy Burke stuck to his guns and kept Kaberle when the offers weren't good enough! Sign him long term Burkie, get it done!

Burke has done great so far but he dun goofed up when he didn't trade Kaberle for anything, didn't waive Finger and didn't sign Kovalchuk and made a soft trade for Savard.

If you think for a second you'd get a Ryan or Neal in a deal for Kabs youre overvaluing him just as much as Burke did! I dont know a GM that would be that dumb to shoot themselves in the foot like that...I dont even think Milbury would be THAT ridiculous...

we support our team by having riots in the street. its a proven formula.

Well, its better to have Kaberle then to have some pieces that aren't worth kaberle.
Finger can still be sent to the minors.
Signing kovalchuk is still up in the air (no one has, 30 bad gm's i guess)
and what savard trade ???

An uninformed Leafs fan....what a shock!
If you read any of the news reports or saw any of the pictures none of the rioters were wearing habs gear and it was actually an organzied group of thugs that took advantage of the party in the streets as cover. But again if you read anything about that night you'd already know that!

Getting a 1st for Kaberle, waiving Finger and then offering 10 years at 8 mil cap hit would have easily placed Kovalchuk on this team. Spread the salary how you wish.
Right now, we have one of the highest paid, under performing D in the league. Switching that salary to F while giving Gunnarsson a bigger role, and allowing someone like Mikus or Aulie to have a chance at being this year's Gunnarsson would have allowed us to trade Beauchemin next year. We would have the space to add Savard through a soft trade where Boston doesn't take cap back. Savard has a history with Kovalchuk and Kessel where he posted some of his best career numbers.
If Burke wants to go for broke and win now, don't sign players like Armstrong to 3 mil $ deals to play on the 3rd line. Give 1 mil to Arty to play on the 4th and add players like Savard and Kovalchuk.

oh, whats this, we have a first here people: A condescending habs fan
Make excuses any way you want. But no one else riots like the habs fans... not the first time either
I guess the leafs need to make the playoffs to know if we riot or not... but I'll wager that after a win, we won't.

What can I say...we know how to throw a party!
And dont tell me that if a Richard-type situation happened to lets say Gilmour at the end of the 1993-94 season Leafs fans wouldnt have been losing their minds in the streets. You said yourself youre a passionate bunch. Im the first to admit Toronto had the team to win the cup that year...imagine if you had lost Gilmour to an entire playoff suspension there would have been hell to pay in T.O.!

Bryan you're an idiot if this is the first time you have viewed the Leafs situation as positive in the last decade... Pre lockout we were a perennial playoff contender, and on one occasion nearly made the SCF, if not for those fucking Hurricanes...In other words, we have enjoyed greater success than the Nucks, so if this is how you view the Leafs last decade, I would hate to know what you think of the Nucks history to date, nevermind last decade...
As for Brian Burke, no one is shitting on his work to date, but rather his handling of the Kaberle situation, which was poor to say the very least. At this point I think the Leafs need to seriously consider moving Schenn. As our defense is currently constructed he will not get top 4 minutes, and he is redundant with Komisarek, Beauchemin and Gunnarsson. If he can return a good young forward it would be foolish not to explore it.

You are one of if not the main idiot this thread was created for. I said almost a decade and imo a pernial playoff team yes but definatly not a contender. The Canucks have choked and that is why we have not done better in the past ten years. You had a consistant playoff performer in Curtis Joseph that allowed that team IMO to over achieve. IMO you were never that close to having a winning team since the early to mid 90's.
I am just saying, my fuck Kareem stop complaining!!! Everyone complains all the time about his lack of activity, if you deny that you either cant read the previous post's or your head is so far up your ass its incredible. People complain about his lack of activity on draft day, how he didnt sign so and so, how he didn't get savard/kovalchuk etc as if toronto had a shot lol. I think it is sad that other than facey and maybe scott, I am the biggest believer in the leafs. That is a sad statment but if you look at the fourms you will see it is very evident in them. That is all I was trying to say. I like arguing hockey with fans of other teams because they blindly love their teams and have different points of views. However, honestly if I didnt know you were a leafs fan kareem, I would think you hate them more than I do. You will argue that you are a realistic leafs fan, but no pesimistic leafs fan would be a better way of putting it. You might say well if you were a fan of a team that has missed the playoffs 5 years or what ever in a row you would be in the same boat, and I call that my childhood.
To sum up everything all I was trying to say is that I think its a good time to be a leafs fan and that is all. The sun is rising once again and the future is bright yet there is so much negativity. I didnt think you would come out with the "idiot" bomb on this one. I was expecting a few guys to agree with me and say yea alot of guys on here do bitch and wrongly so.

i completely agree bryan. burke has done a FANTASTIC job including with the kaberle situation. id rather keep one of the best puck movers in the league than move him for spare parts. we didn't stand a chance of landing kovy. why would he come here for the same money he could have signed for in Atlanta? he wanted to go to a contender. and the savard trade was more wishful thinking than reality. again i repeat, burke has done a FANTASTIC job.
p.s. im one of the biggest fans of the Kessel trade.

I dunno dude, its gotta border on fantastic... the change is such a short period of time... what other team has even come close to that sort of turn around?

Considering what Burke has had to work with when he took over to the direction of the team.. I'm with the guys who think he's done a fantastic job.. but my opinion could change rather quickly! I just love how Burke never stops working (signing euros & ncaa fa's). You gotta think he has a few more tricks up his sleeve!

We just finished 29th Overall and are likely going to finish bottom 5 again next season. There is change, yes, but we still suck.
Komisarek @ $4.5 million. Not a good signing.
Armstrong @ $3 million. Not a good signing.
Kubina for Exelby + Prospect. Awful trade. I don't care if it was for cap space, I'd take Kubina over Komisarek every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He is offensive and is JUST AS GOOD as Komisarek defensively.
Stalberg + Didomenico + Paradis for Versteeg. While I personally like the trade, it is extremely short-sighted. Stalberg could easily turn into a player as good or better than Versteeg, plus with everything else we gave up.
1st in 2010 + 2nd in 2010 + 1st in 2011 for Phil Kessel. Anybody that thinks this is still a fantastic trade, needs to put down the glass of kool-aid and take a breathe. We have given up Tyler Seguin, who looks to be an elite prospect for the Bruins. Jared Knight, who once again looks to be a pretty damn good prospect. Not to mention the potential of another top 5 pick next year. Until Kessel scores 40+ goals and gets 80+ points, this trade is a loss and could be one of the bigger trade busts in Leaf history.
We have $27,775,000 million locked up in our defence. Brian Burke is once again, like in Anaheim, proving he is bad at cap management.
I am fine with what Burke has done so far, but to call his work fantastic is Leaf bias to the max.
I'll leave it at that because I know I'll have to back up some arguments and don't want to get into too many at the same time.

Stalberg is older than Versteeg and has less hockey sense than my mother who cheers for Sidney Crosby because she thinks he's from PEI. I don't have the heart to tell her otherwise.
