2014-2015 BBKL Awards

Post by Sensfanjosh »

Congrats to the following award winners, the player awards will be announced soon.

GM of the Year: Mik

A shocked Nashville GM Mik remarked on the privileged it was to be voted best GM by his peers, and his own surprise that his was the name that came out on top in such a well-regarded group of talented managers.
Mik has assembled one of the best and deepest BBKL rosters which resulted in a finals appearance in the 2014-2015 BBKL playoffs after beating out another strong favorite, Los Angeles, in the West.

Most Improved Team of the Year: Josh

Calgary GM Josh responded to news of his award win by acknowledging how close the voting race must have been given the other GM’s nominated, and then by saying “having been a GM here for a few years now it is good to finally see the fruits of drafting and long-term trades beginning to appear”.
While the progress has been noticeable in Calgary, transitioning from bottom feeder to playoff team is the first, and easiest step towards contender status and much work remains.

Rookie GM of the Year: Fraser

After an initial reaction of “awesome” in receiving word of his award win, Vancouver GM Fraser collected his thoughts to say “it’s been a fun first year in this league and has helped keep me engaged with the game after spending much of the season with nothing but rugby fans around me.” Having moved from 4th last to 9th last over his first year the process has been a slow but promising one for the first time GM.
When asked about his plans for continued success Fraser responded saying he’s “looking forward to tearing this league apart” and beating his rival GM’s at their own game starting next season. You’ve been warned Western Conference.

Sportsmanship Award: Scott

Detroit GM Scott pointed out that hard times have fallen upon the proud Red Wings franchise in recent years and that “I’ve done more losing than winning” but that attitude is an important albeit often overlooked aspect of rebuilding in noting “the last thing anyone wants is a team at the bottom of the league with a bad attitude.”
This attitude has borne out in GM Scott’s trade talks wherein “good relationships” are fostered “working together on trades”. Scott’s other notable contributions also undoubtedly played a role in his award win given his volunteering with pick-tracking and the draft more generally. An award win like this shows how much said efforts are appreciated by the league, and the future is certainly looking brighter in Detroit than it has in some time.

Congrats on taking the big trophy home Mik. A year where you win two separate sweepstakes for BBKL superstars in Karlsson and Ribeiro, it was a pretty clear choice.

Congrats guys!

He was actually at close to a point/Game right up until i traded him. He then scored like 3 times in his last 15 games. :)

Would you ever post the voting, like number of 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place votes for each nominee?

There was no 1st 2nd 3rd place voting, it was just a vote for who you wanted to win?
