Very easy talks...I offered the players and we quickly bargained on the added picks.
Fairly lateral deal where he saves some cap room. Fayne is a solid top 4 defender with periphs and Bourque has some decent upside. Cole and Condra both got nice new contracts and were two of my better players in the latter part of the season. I wanted to get some new faces into the fold with similar stats and I can absorb the extra cap.

I honestly dont even know what to make of this trade
Are any of them still active in the bottom 6/bottom 2 role in the NHL?

Yup hoping to strike gold there. There is a lot of opportunity on the backend of that Pittsburgh blue line. The hope is I strike gold there and save a little bit of cap.

Forsberg-Ribeiro-Neal
Wilson-Fisher-Smith
Fiala-Hodgson-Jarnkrok
Bourque-Gaustad-Nystrom
Watson-Moses
Some risk with Bourque too. He should make the team, but his spot isn't that secure with Moses in the mix. Prefer Cole + Condra, but not a big difference if Bourque plays. Picks being added seemed strange with Casper getting the cheaper guys with more job security.

Fayne's periphs were appealing. I needed a defense first guy. I have more offensive defensemen.
Bourque is a wild card...his role isn't in stone, I get that.

Fayne does have solid periphs. He's just overpaid.

Other than the picks probably going the wrong direction, not bad.
Esoecially given most of the players in this deal aren't worth much more than the Arizona 3rd + det 7th anyways. That 3rd should be around 65th. It is like Scott is sending a 3rd player Casper's direction.

Not really sure what kind of players you think you are getting in this league for a 3rd+7th. If they are in the NHL and productive on some level good luck.

Picks are lottery tickets...they're opportunities to get players. I moved back in the draft...I didn't lose a pick. The 7th is expendable...I simply moved back a couple rounds to make a trade where I initiated the talks. I've got a nice collection of 4th and 5th rounders for '16. I can still move back into the 3rd round if necessary.
