Looking to add cap and a defenseman

Plenty of cap space to use up, come dump a bad contract on me, preferably a defenseman.
But regardless, I want to add a defenseman. Won't mortgage the future for one but willing to buy the right piece.

Shoulda come knocking earlier. Moved Macdonald and Nikitin already.
Have Elias though. Some other less than ideal contracts too.

well, once it's waiver exempt the low cap hit becomes only a bonus.
If making it a package, probably easier adding pick/s than players
