Lee came to me with the offer and it was just a case of the price was right. I offered him both MacInnis and Pettersson (who were former 2nd round picks) and I replace them with two 3rds in this upcoming draft. With Vanek's contract, he's signed through next year so it's not a total boat anchor. He'll be a 33 year old free agent so we'll see about his future beyond then. Bennett hasn't played well so far and all my wingers are bottom 6 guys...I needed the added scoring up front. Murphy is going to be a good offensive defenseman for Lee at the very least.

I prefer Scotts side of the deal and fits what he said his goals were earlier in the year

The strength of your team was up front...Murphy gives you another option on defense. I'm sure freeing up some cap room helps a lot for you as well. With the way Montreal is playing...your goaltending trade has been an absolute win of all wins. I'd be shocked if you don't make the playoffs this year.

oh yeah for sure, nhl production wise. I have a mandate to get young nhl level talent and I feel I've done that. Murphy is waiver exempt so I can shelter him in the minors behind my young studs until he finds his game.

Perlini and 2 3rds for those 3 seems fair too.

Yeah, I just looked at your Fantrax and you didn't put him in your lineup...wondered if you were going to play him right away or use him later. Him being waiver exempt is a nice perk for adding him.
