Ya it was like a week before or right on it... Just thought we (some of us) were complaining that because it was so close to the end of our season, teams on the edge weren't making a lot of moves because they knew their destiny. But maybe that was just me complaining.

I believe it was a day or 2 after the NHL deadline.

Speaking as a bubble playoff team, please let the trade deadline be on a date of consequence.

Does that mean earlier, or would you prefer a day after NHL deadline?

Earlier. We need atleast a full month before our playoffs begin.

I second this.

I guess the argument last year was that if goalies changed teams it could fuck our teams over (IIRC)?
Could have a clause that we allow for only goalie-centered trades after the NHL deadline?

The other issue is/if a NHL goalie is traded after our deadline leaving a BBKL team with no starting goaltender.

Example Andersen is traded to Calgary and now I have two starters and CGY system doesn't have one.

yep, that's what I was getting Matt; I guess we either keep things as is or make a "goalie-centred trades only" provision for post NHL deadline trades.

Sorry, I read it as you were saying what if goalies were traded before our deadline for some reason which really isn't an issue. Turns out I just repeated what you said.

Well maybe we should skip the facade of having a trade deadline if we are going to make it the week before playoffs begin.

sort of how I feel Lee. But not sure if shared league wide.

I'd actually be fine with the trade deadline being the end of the season too. No trades during the playoffs and let playoff teams pay for rentals from non play off teams to help create more parity.

One thing I think we can agree on is there hasn't been a trade deadline date that 30 GMs have agreed was perfect. Some think it is too early since injuries and moves happen in the NHL and we can't react in BBKL and some think it is too late.

fair enough matt. I think the injury complaint is null though because those injuries happen to NHL teams after trade deadline too and they can't do anything about it. As for player moves, for the most part its impossible to predict if the new situation will cause them to improve/lose stats that much from a BBKL perspective. I think a little bit of unknown is not a bad thing - you get a bounce one year and not the other year... no issue with that for me.

I think the only issue I've seen so far is the goalie one we mentioned above.

Make an official ruling going forward and we will be happy with it. Add it to the CBA like we did with the free agent pick up date. this is discussed to death every year with the same points being brought up.

last year announcement:
http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6165 ... 79#p203679
kyuss wroteCOLONThe BBKL trade deadline has been set for Monday, March 2nd, at 6p.m. ET.

That is 3hrs after the NHL trade deadline, and 1h before the roster lock of our second last week of the regular season.

After the deadline, no BBKL team will be allowed to complete and announce trades before the end of the BBKL playoffs.

The second and final C/W update will be based on a FOR list generated off the NHL stats as of Monday, February 16th[/b] (i.e. after Sunday 15th games are completed and taken into account) and will apply to February 23rd roster lock.

which was the direct result of the following (the outcome of the discussion inside CC):
March 2nd, that's before the last 2 weeks of our RS

Reasoning:
1 - CC was never able to address the G potential problem (i.e. regulating an exception for when a G is injured and his NHL team trade for a new one), so having our deadline after the NHL one takes care of that
2 - NHL trades would probably stimulate more activity at our deadline as well, as GMs would be able to react to real trades they have no control over
3 - it makes the BBKL trades hiatus more viable for non playoff teams' GMs (when it's too long GMs complain a lot and it creates an unhealthy period of inactivity for some of them)

since the agreement on the above was unanimous, I'd expect something along those lines again.

When is the NHL deadline this season?

mmmmhh.. moving to the 4matchup system we actually shortened our RS. If I'm not mistaken, it is scheduled to end with week #29 on February 28th.

So our deadline would fall right after the end of our RS.

Btw, what are we going to do with the 6 weeks available for the playoffs? Usually it was 2weeks-final and 1 week for the other rounds, but we would have one lost week here.

One option would be getting rid of the last week of the NHL RS to avoid the problem of healthy scratch players of teams who already made the playoffs, something that affected last year final for example.
