If this was a move in response to the expansion draft, you're going to have an opportunity to trade players after the season and prior to the expansion draft. Not to blow up our trade deadline but you don't have to get rid of unprotected players now.
That being said, nice move for Thom...

Don't really get the point of this deal for Hong. At least should've got better value.

Not possible since he's going to make the playoffs. The first 15 picks including Vegas are the non-playoff teams. Could be top 20 if he doesn't get to the conference finals.

ya it's in response to the expansion draft.. and yes i know there is a trade period between our finals and the expansion draft, by then i think people are locking up their rosters for protected players.. zucker being a expansion eligible player won't get his value any better than trading him now to contenders willing to make a run.. this is like the value i set but no one is willing to pay up except thom.. everyone says zucker is just a product of his line..
honestly i am not thinking to making it to the finals or winning it all this year..... i have so many mediocre players in my lineup (yakupov, ferland, armia, etc.. they don't really not even specialize in one category).. my winning window is next 2 years while JT is still on his 5.5mil cap.. with 3 1st round picks in each of the next 2 years draft.. i think i will be able to trade for someone good when picks are more valuable and after expansion draft where you are more certain of your roster..
To mik
don't laugh yet.. don't let me beat you in the playoffs this year =P.. i still have GP players....

I agree. I'm sure he could've gotten something almost as good during that time and at least had Zucker for the playoffs to contend. Minny is 1st in the West. It was time to go for it, not panic over expansion.

Real head scratcher
#1 seed in the West trades a top 50 winger for a return he could have got in the offseason when more teams have cap space.

Minny would like to thank Zucker for his service this past season. We wish him every success in WSH. Meanwhile, Minny will be calling up Goldobin to replace Zucker's top 9 role in the team. Goldobin has improved tremendously in his play away from the puck. Given his offensive talent, he has every opportunity in this team to succeed and we are confident he will prove valuable to our playoff run this year.
