Mik has depth on defense for days so moving a guy like Butcher isn't a big deal for him. Nice hedging of his bets with goaltending by adding Rittich.

Makes sense for Dave because he should be playing Binnington at this point although Rittich has been solid this year. He's turning over his roster a bit so all three pieces he got should help.

I had to look it up...Dave got Rittich with the last pick of the waiver draft in 2016. That's great value for him.

Some decent finds with that 2nd round of recent waiver drafts:

Oscar Fantenberg by NJ in 2017
Christian Wolanin by EDM in 2017
Tom Pyatt by DET in 2016
Matt Benning by BUF in 2016
Rittich by CLB in 2016
Austin Czarnik and Conor Sheary by PHI in 2015
Paul LaDue by DET in 2015
Phil Myers by VAN in 2015

I like Butcher (although more as an NHLer than BBKLer) and I think Janmark is better than what he's showed this season (where's been unable to finish lots of chances), so I guess I overpaid unless Rittich keeps doing well which is a big question mark (even more so with the Flames rumoured to be in the market for another goalie), but I clearly needed to move at least one of my disappointing waiver-eligible wingers before the deadline and didn't want to find myself forced to 'dump' them in the last couple of days.

At least this deal should help my lineup for the playoff run with Rodrigues's and Rittich's cheap contracts.

It's not like it's a slam dunk for Dave.
