Not really, but as I said I'm not a Juolevi fan.Bruyns wroteCOLONAnother cap cutting move, makes the Benn deal look better.
Agree not really especially when justification was 2 waiver exempt D I got 3, one who has done more in the Nhl than either guy Toronto got. Craig and Matthew win hands down thoCasperX22 wroteCOLONNot really, but as I said I'm not a Juolevi fan.Bruyns wroteCOLONAnother cap cutting move, makes the Benn deal look better.
and I'd take Tyconick over that entire package even after a brutal +1 year, Jones hasn't been able to crack one of the worst defense corps in the entire NHL. I'd objectively take Cecconi over Jones given he has shown steady progression every year since his draft year. His ceiling isn't anything special, but neither is Juolevi's or Jones. Do Juolevi and Jones have more recognizable names? Absolutely, but that does not make them better prospects. So like you said we will agree to disagree on this one.Bruyns wroteCOLONAgree to disagree then, Lajoie already sent down and I think Juolevi has a much higher ceiling. Other 2 D I don't have much faith they become NHLers, Cecconi is just a guy and Tychonick had a brutal D+1 year. I'd take Jones over Cecconi + Tychonick easily, but the point of Getzlaf being older is true.

His ceilng was never particularly special even in his draft year. He was SUPPOSED to be a safe bet, essentially Hanifin's spirit animal, and he has been anything but to this point. He was supposed to reach the NHL before guys like Sergachev, McAvoy, Chychrun, Fabbro despite not having as high a ceiling as these guys. You know what you call that? You call that a bust.Matthew wroteCOLONJuolevi is a better prospect. He has great hockey sense and vision. He has a high offensive ceiling. His biggest hurdle is that he has had both a knee and a back injury...so he will need to get over those and then REMAIN healthy, so he can develop. But if he does juolevi is easily the best piece in either package, regardless of name recognition.
Yep. Injury concerns. You called it.lightupdadarkness wroteCOLONI don’t think Matthew or Cliff, who I think drafted and traded him to Matthew IIRC, trade Juolevi if they weren’t worried/had injury concerns about him personally
Well NO SHIT they would drop him after having a down year. Prospect rankers ride the wave of who's hot and who's not all the time without objective analysis. Anyone expecting linear progression from a guy like Tyconick who was a completely raw prospect when they drafted him was not being realistic in their expectations. As bad as that 1st season was, whatever you thought of Tyconick on draft day you should probably still think of him today. Objectively he has the highest ceiling of any prospect we are talking about here, but at the same time has the highest chance of crashing and burning while not ever signing his ELC. Personally I'd rather take the chance on a guy like Tyconick than some of these lower ceiling guys in most cases. I don't expect everybody to agree with that sentiment, but that is my honest assessment.Bruyns wroteCOLONTychonick even dropped in the Sens blog top 25 U25 rankings from 12 to 23 and readers ranked him 26th. Saying you would take him over Juolevi + Jones isn't agree to disagree it's borderline crazy. He had potential in the BCHL, but it seemed pretty clear that he is going to struggle as a pro.
I don't even like Juolevi personally and would value him as a late 2nd early 3rd at this point, but I'd still take a risk on him staying healthy and reaching some of his potential over players I don't view as having much of a chance at a successful NHL career. I know GMs like their own players and I'm guilty of overrating some guys I like too, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who will view this trade as a cap dump for a few lottery tickets with poor odds.
I was already thinking that, but how many years would I have to give Casper for Tychonick to make the NHL in a full time role before he gives up on him? It would be years before I ever got a return.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONTime to make a bet boys.
