Tampa Bay confirms this deal... I hope Vatenen comes over and produces well for you Mik... as long as he doesn't get in Cam's way.

Time for THOR to smash:

lol i guess you couldn't wait to post that stuff..

not too comfortable about this deal, liked Olden quite a lot and you got more potential than me here.

But Sami is already a player and i'm fan, albeit it's anyone's guess whether he will be able to translate it at the NHL level or not.

why not..
first he's small

second he said his 'desire is to play for a league who will give him minutes and show interest'

i have a feeling that will be the SEL or KHL

Sami is 19... I dunno how you've decided he won't come over... dominated WJC, solid WC, and already off to a killer start in the FNL... this was a very hard deal for me to accept, and if it wasn't for my depth in d-prospects... I would not have done it

Remember, this is the kid who broke a record for most points by a rookie defenseman in both regular season and playoffs... best offensive d-man prospect EVER out of Finland.

This is how you can tell we're all hockey infatuated and need to take a breath once and a while. Someone's getting bashed for trading Sondre Olden LOL

I disagree 100%, I think I paid more for Sami, and am confident he will come over... Olden impressed me @ rookie camp, and it turns out Norway will be playing in WJC this year, so it'll be fun to watch. Both project to begin their pro-north american careers in 2 years.

The dark horse in this deal of dark horse prospects in Godfrey.... if he ever manages to make an NHL club he'll toss up reasonable PP #'s.

As an all around player/prospect/dman Joni>>Sami, no doubt; but in terms of sheer offence form the back end... I disagree

Younger, Harder team to break in with, Better #'s. He doesn't have the size or the shot, or the defensive presence.

Captain of the U18
#2 overall KHL draft
Insane showing WJC
Solid showing WC
->->-> 2 years of developing, hopefully to get up to 185-190lbs in that time, and he'll come over to the Ducks, his vision, soft hands, and skating will get him a spot in the NHL + the typical high grit level that all Fin's seem to own.

Olden is a wicked prospect from a developing hockey nation... but there's no secret as to why I even know who he is -> drafted by the Leafs, watched him in rookie camp... really a shadow of what Sami has going on.

I like Sami as much as the next guy, I'm the one who originally drafted him overall, but to say he does anything better than Joni is a vast overstatement.

Joni isn't even that good defensively...So to say Vatananen is better offensively is to say that Vatanan is a better player.

Your right Steve... your inside info was a complete secret to me, and your opinion dictates what I do with my team !
:o

or else everyone knows Vatanen signed his extension right after the WC.
