Re: CAR/DAL
I think Will cleans this deal up.
Paul gives up the best 2 pieces in Askarov and Kyrou. He also adds the higher pick.

Re: CAR/DAL
Askarov + 2nd for Sorokin. Fine. Though as a rebuilding team it makes no sense to pay given he is already 25 and has not shown to be good at the NHL level at this time.
Shatts + 6th + 7th for Kyrou + Oleksiak = makes no sense for Carolina.
Can we give Kimmer a trade advisor permanently?

Re: CAR/DAL
looks really bad for Carolina.
What's the point of holding onto your 1st rounders if then you lose in a deal like this the player you ended up drafting?

Re: CAR/DAL
So compliments and kudos are the measurement of success in a deal now? Interesting.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONLOl @ you thinking you made a good deal when so far you are 0-for in compliments and kudos.kimmer wroteCOLONlol @ thinking aska + 2nd gets u sorokin..

Re: CAR/DAL
It measures the initial perceived value of the deal, but of course it does not measure the actual value... that will be determined in 5 years or so.CasperX22 wroteCOLONSo compliments and kudos are the measurement of success in a deal now? Re: CAR/DAL
If Sorokin turns out to be a number one goalie (and Askarov doesn't), this isn't terrible for Paul

Nah what happens in the future will be fun in hindsight, but the only time to properly asses a trade is today with information available when the trade was made.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONIt measures the initial perceived value of the deal, but of course it does not measure the actual value... that will be determined in 5 years or so.CasperX22 wroteCOLONSo compliments and kudos are the measurement of success in a deal now? There is a price to pay to speed up the development of Askarov + security of Sorokin already being in the NHL. Was it too much? Possibly, but I'm not going to pretend to know a thing about goalies.

Love this for Dallas
Re: CAR/DAL
Sorokin is 25 and Varlamov is signed for 3 more years at 5 Million.
No brainer deal for Dallas.

2 years beyond this year, but it's not like there is a flat cap and goalies have never been bought out or anything. Either way Sorokin will claim a larger piece of the starts sooner than later. They didn't bring him over to be a backup.Shep wroteCOLONSorokin is 25 and Varlamov is signed for 3 more years at 5 Million.

Re: CAR/DAL
The guys started two games. One was a last minute start after Varlamov got stung in warmups or whatever. His team has also provided him with exactly zero goal support in those two starts.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONAskarov + 2nd for Sorokin. Fine. Exactly. He hasn't proven anything at the NHL level yet.koomzzz wroteCOLONThe guys started two games. One was a last minute start after Varlamov got stung in warmups or whatever.
