I think Hronek is more valuable, but deal is fine for Dave. Good defender who is youngish, lose a little on the reward side, but eliminate the risk.

would you honestly have traded Jones straight up for 9th?

I can vouch for him, he texted me after seeing my public offer asking if I got a reply and saying he offered Jones.

I told him he should offer publicly and he said he would if he didn't get a reply. Then he landed a better pick, so it was a moot point.

As crazy as this sounds, i should have offered one of my other dmen. I would have still been interested in this pick

It's interesting to see teams now moving their top 10 picks straight-up for an NHLer...I won't be one of them. Are teams unsure of this draft or do they just want a proven NHL player?

I'm not here to throw stones...I've been trading my top 12 picks the last several years but that didn't work out great for me. I can't believe I haven't made a selection with my own 1st round pick since 2014!?! (Aaron Ekblad picked 1st overall)

I have a pretty good idea how the top 3 or 4 picks will go but I think the draft starts around pick 5. I'm down 2 or 3 names that I'm looking at with my pick. I expect at least one of them to be there for me. Believe me, the old me would've loved to nab a solid defenseman for my 1st rounder but not with the state of my team.

Idk I was gonna draft jiricek or nemec if they were available to me and figured jones was as good an option. Felt I have a good stockpile of prospects to make the move I made. Fits in with my core guys like rantanen and Dahlin as well. I don’t plan on trading any more picks,

Dave has typically hung onto his picks. He's had solid success in the draft. Curious to see how Kent Johnson does in his first full season in the NHL.

Maybe it's just the philosophy of the individual team. I think this a good draft to invest in the top 10 if you're thinking long-term.

Really any team in the east with an okay lineup can make one big move and slide into The playoffs so why not

Dave prob wants to take advantage of kopitar and Benn while he still can

One or two more moves of prospects for good NHLers and he prob has a good chance of being top six in the east
