This is the worst time to deal Lecavalier, he had a down season because of injuries, and now looks poised to put up great numbers alongside the sickest group of fowards in the NHL, and injury free, and as much as I like O'Reilly, he is stuck in the three hole behind Duchene and Stastny.

vinny also makes over 7 million dollars...and ORielly has had lots of ice time in their first two games with over 20 faceoff wins already and plenty of SHTOI.

My initial reaction is this looks like a win for the Coyotes...especially long term. It really depends on which Lecavalier we see this year. For one year, Shiv will get a bump offensively with Recchi still producing for his age and Lecavalier has big number potential. Like I said though, over the long term, I like this more for the Coyotes.

O'Reilly's bump in ice time has more to do with the competition (Detroit, Philadelphia) and back to back games than his actual on ice ability, the struggles of the top line certainly contributed to this as well. Ryan is a very nice periphery guy, but he is stuck on the third line for the forseeable future, and Vinny brings those same periphery stats in addition to elite level scoring. Obviously you liked Doan alot as a kicker, I'm not as high on him, for starters he is getting up there in age, and being a forward that relies on speed and physicality as much as raw skill I anticipate a substantial decline in his production going forward.
It's a high risk move, dealing off Vinny at this time, but also a potentially strong move given his decline in recent years. Nonethelesss, this will be an interesting trade to monitor as the season progresses.
