Love this deal for CBJ, I think Shiv is stupid for dealing for Weiss, love the guy, but he is not putting up points on that roster...

I don't know what your cap situation is, nor do I care, I'm judging this from a hockey POV, and from that perspective I think you lose.

agreed. I see weiss around 50p max on that team and vinny hits perif stats pretty hard as well. Vinny has also looked stellar thus far. Florida imo is the run away favorite for the number 1 pick.....Imagine Gudb/Larsson now thats a power pair.

I think they have to go with Couturier/Nougent Hopkins, they already have four good young blueliners (Robak, Kulikov, Comrie, Gudbranson) in addition to McCabe, Allen and Wideman, what they need is elite talent up front.

Wow. Really? You really just said that?

Maybe Florida should trade away all of their good young talent for 4th line grinders, just so they can draft Larsson.

Which is exactly what you called me an idiot for not doing in this thread.

He called me an idiot for not trading away all of my prospects for 4th line grinders just to draft Larsson.

I correlated that into saying that Florida should trade away all of their young talent for 4th line grinders just to draft Larsson.

You don't want to completely bomb out your roster to draft one player. Unless Larsson is the second coming of Robert Gordon Orr (or Nicklas Lidstrom)...you can build around other players. You need an ensemble cast. If you're starting out with nothing, one player isn't going to make a big difference. You'll just be bad with one good player.

For the record, 4th line grinders could win you categories too, and be solid for when you are competing. You just have to get the right ones.

Then I'll trade prospects for them when I am in a position to do so. Doing that right now makes 0 sense.

other than gp because right now you will be in the position to lose your first alltogether making that pick worthless to trade.....seems like it makes a bit of sense. I am not saying trade morin either, if you make realistic offers for 4th liners they will magically apear on your roster.

Define realistic. Because what has been offered to me has been far from.

Also, from the JT thread:
People want to talk about how easy it is to rebuild.. when you have multiple retarded Gms, it might be, now that the bad ones are weeded out, it's damn near impossible to rebuild like Mashley and others have. Nobody wants to trade unless they rape you. I'm not the only one who shares this sentiment, but apparently there are very few who will speak out against it on the forums.

So yup. I probably won't make the GP this year, or the GGP, so at the very least my pick will be demoted drastically, if not taken away, which will surely help in the long term success of my club. So thanks again, previous GMs. I don't see anybody here jumping to save a franchise that has been severely fucked over before I ever got my hands on the team.

I know, all I'm doing is bitching and whining, right? It has absolutely nothing to do the long term benefit of the league. It's not coming from the voice of someone who is there right now. It's not coming from another GM that went through what I am now. I've made my share of good and my share of questionable trades. It's all a learning curve.

I'm not leaving, or rage quitting. I just don't see my team being competitive for a very long time.
