I agree, I just don't like Gonchar. He's good but getting older and Selanne is still producing very well.

Shiv has been a busy man lately...the guy is a contender and you've to keep up with the pack. It's an interesting move to deal an offensive defenseman like Gonchar with Streit already missing but he's getting a power play ace in Selanne and Erskine is an inexpensive rugged defenseman. He gives up the best player in the deal but Ottawa collectively has been a disappointment in the early going. It's a fairly even deal.

Fair deal imo, if i were to pick a winner it would be a shiv by a slight margin
