btw if you're not sure how to do it, there are two ways:

1) You can crop oshies head and put it onto the body of another player from the blackhawks (this is how shep usually approaches it i think).
2) You can edit the uniform yourself with things like the rubber stamp or the healing brush on photoshop (this is how i like to do it).

give it a shot.

oh another tip, use the following tools:

the ones are under Image at the top after File, Edit.

hue/saturation
selective colour
replace colour
brightness/contrast

And i like to use the layer masks beside layers.

both let you fiddle with colours. so you can turn say an avalanche jersey from dark red to a st louis blues jersey which is dark blue.

I like.

I'm bad with tips because I cheat to do everything.

I use the heads/players body because I'm usually too lazy to recreate the jersey (but I do sometimes). I never use masks of any kind. I like to blend layers for backgrounds, instead of making them from scratch.

Big best suggestion, is to look around at many of the banners I, Shiv, Tony, etc have made, look at different wallpapers around the internet. Try and mimic pieces from these sources for a unique look. I taught myself Photoshop, so most of my strategies are very informal. Just lots of practice with what I like and what I feel looks good.

As Shiv has pointed out before, I am a fan of the more toned out looks, whereas Shiv likes his banners being much brighter. It's a lot of preference, and for me.. trial and error.

I've started banners and completely scrapped my idea because it wasn't turning out the way I wanted. I have a Semin banner i've spent almost 2 hours on and it didn't come out the way I wanted so I haven't touched it in about a month. So that's just 2 hours of wasted time because I'm a picky fuck.

Again, for me, it's trial and error. My banners turn out way better when I go into making it with an idea in mind. If I start by winging it, it's usually some of my lower-end banners.

Oh and another tip (maybe I have more than I realized?), text can make or break a banner/wallpaper. A great background with a great effect on a cut can be destroyed by poor text. If you really like the look of your piece before you add text, make sure the text you are adding works well and doesn't take away from the quality. If you cannot get the text to look good or look the way you want it, then leave it out.

Agreed 100%. I've spent a good hour looking for the right font sometimes.
