You are on crack if you think anyone will give up a superstar for that package of second and third rate talent.

doesnt have to be a superstar like eric staal. i guess i should rephrase. a good benchmark would be a guy like pavelski

whenever you post these you keep operating under the assumption that savard has any value left at all.
there is no way in frosty hell you get a joe pavelski like player for that.

That is reasonable, I can see Pavelski going for a package like that, in fact Leino alone is a very similar player, minus the fow of course.

Leino and Jokinen alone is a very reasonable offer for Joe Pavelski. It is certainly not unreasonable of Shiv to claim as much.

Maybe stats wise... But they are no where near the players or future impact that medium Joe is.

This is a stats based league, and I disagree that the future impact is so radically different between the three of them, I think for the most part each of them has reached their career potential, their may be some career years mixed in there, but for the most part what they are today, is what they will be moving forward, IMO.

"im gonna make a retarded offer. not sure if it's what you're looking for. let me know if any minor tweaks can make it happen (swapping players out etc).
To Vancouver: Ville Leino + Andy Greene + Ryan Ellis + Marc Savard + Nikolai Zherdev
To Pittsburgh: Couture"

Couture
Problem with that offer Shiv is that next year it could easily be Leino + Greene...

I fail to see how that is a bad offer lol. Leinos good for 50 points, Greene is a good h2h d-man, Ellis could be a beast ppqb, and yes Zherdev is a flight risk to the KHL but he will more than likely stay in the nhl and that means a 3rd NHL asset for berg in return for Couture. Savard is a huge risk yes but the other 4 pieces in return for couture mean Savard's return is just a cherry on top if it happens.
That being said, I can see why berg would reject it if there are better offers out there.
But posting it as if its ridiculous is kind of unnecessary.

you might be onto something, but in reality you've picked the worst possible time to have that offer accepted.
couture is a rookie, ripping up the playoffs, coming off a likely calder year, at the peak of his hype less than a few days after berg acquired him.
it's simply not going to happen.
