You can only claim guys with contracts I believe. It'll open after the waiver draft.Snipeshow wroteCOLON??
Meaning, for example, somebody like Bobby Butler last season can be claimed before he is signed?
Okay.. well I thought we could do this last year anyways?Raptactics wroteCOLONThis upcoming season GMs will be able to claim free agents until our BBKL trade deadline. That date will be set soon. Stay tuned
No, Butler is a college FA, meaning he is not eligible to be signed until after the college season, hence college FA's only be claimed via the BBKL waiver draft.Snipeshow wroteCOLON??

LOL - I know right? The CC is so useful lolSnipeshow wroteCOLONThat's fine.
So then what is this rule changing? People were signing players until the Trade Deadline this year..
Codification. Some people wanted no FA signing at all. As in, unowned players could only be had in the waiver draft.Snipeshow wroteCOLONThat's fine.

When was this as a rule decided....facey wroteCOLONbut we have it officially as a rule....
we are currently clarify the details required for you to be able to sign FA
-> not draft eligible
-> signed a pro contract
-> played an NHL game? -> this is to protect some guys that sign early in the CHL or leave NCAA prior to end of the season... they should be kept for the waiver draft if they are not helping a teams roster right away.
It hasn't. I think Nick's just musing on the possible options.bills09 wroteCOLONWhen was this as a rule decided....facey wroteCOLONbut we have it officially as a rule....
