I'm sorry Shep...know you you put some hard work into the Karlsson sig, and it only lasted 1.5 weeks.

Too bad you didn't wait it out. I would have done a little better than that when my two weeks trade freeze was up.

I went looking over the counters. I might be a little inexperienced with the way counting stats are valued here, but I don't think Tavares is close to reaching his potential. He'll never be a Brian Boyle with SHTOI/Hits/BS, but he's good enough that his points can do some damage that Boyle can't.
Mind you, I'm going over some of the rankings right now. It's interesting that a third-liner like Boyle gets 218 shots on net, with just a shade under a 10% shooting percentage, which might be suggestive of someone who had a career year. But his other numbers like hits, outdistances Tavares' numbers considerably. Who knows? It's not a trade I'd very interested in, but I might change my tune as I start to take control of my team.

I wouldn't have made the deal either, just pointing out that Boyle is a h2h beast.

I just wanted to make a trade.. I to think Bill did very well.. but it was more to show everyone I'm serious and that my interest levels are back to where they should be!

Karlson is a pretty studly defencemen, Karlsson+Boyles point totals, should exceed or at least match Tavares', not to mention together will out periph him nicely.
not to mention a fairly solid prospect in Drew Shore.
that being said its a solid deal.

Scott essentially ensured that the Dallas pick remains in the basement for this season, I'm sure that was a strong consideration behind this deal.

value wise I still like it for Bill. If this was for Vinny or an aging vet I would think its a bad trade but its Tavares a young guy, could be the cornerstone for his franchise for years to come. I like it for him.

I think when you try to condense stats into one player, it clouds the water a bit because teams should have spots for special players who can absolutely and thoroughly dominate in one or two categories. Tavares is that guy. Hits and BS are up and down, year to year, though I see why the value is there with Boyle and Karlsson.
Interesting deal to say the least. An eye-opener for my first day.
