Vancouver Canucks - Rebuilding Mode

I went through everyone's teams last night/today. After some reading and analysis, it appears that if I'm going to win by 2012-13 season, I'd need to do a bit of a retooling this year. I don't think I have the horses to make a move up the standings and take it all during the playoffs. All players, outside of my first round picks (special circumstances only), are on the table. As far as those special circumstances go for my first round picks, with the 2012 draft being touted as a top-heavy one, I'd only move them for players who fall under the category of being under 24, in the NHL, are defensemen or goaltenders, and/or have no contractual obligations beyond 2017 (Looking at you, Vincent Lecavalier!).
I expect to have several deals ready-to-announce by August 8th when my trade freeze is up. Already off the table is Mason Raymond - will be traded upon lifting of the trade freeze.
Thanks for your interest,
hockeysense
Addendum: It's a rebuild. All players are available. Bring your best.

I like to be clear. Don't like confusion in discussions lol... ask Shep. I'm just as bad in our other keeper league.

It'll be interesting to see the reviews when I announce the two trades I have on the table right now. I wouldn't mind a lifting of the trade freeze - I've put some thought into how I'm going to build my team. I have a list of players I want to rebuild my team with, so I'm doing what I can to acquire those guys without doing too much harm to the team bergey has built.

Alrightttttty then. I spoke to a bunch of guys tonight - asked a bunch of questions about the state of the league, the plan, the potential longevity of it, etc. I decided my mindset wasn't right when I thought I had to win as soon as possible. If the league will last five years or beyond, I want to win as often as possible.
It's a rebuild. Trades will be announced on the 8th. Let the fur fly!

don't let all the bitching and moaning right now get to you. it's the off-season and people are bored. we've been going 2 full years now and the league has never been stronger or more stable.
also, fuck the team berg built, put your own stamp on it. i took over CHI as a playoff team, but tore it down and tanked out. took some heat from the league, but now i have a pretty good team that
I built...much more satisfying.

I've completely revamped my Rangers and they too were a playoff team when I took over last off-season (missed the playoffs by like 3sec shtoi this year lol), fuck playing with a team others have put together. Gotta put your own stamp on it like Anton says!!

When I took over my team in week 10 of year 1 I didnt even have enough NHLers to fill out a full starting roster; the previous owner mismanaged so bad. Now I'm a pernnial playoff team and playing darkhorse spoiler in the East this year. Alot of the guys have similar stories to tell. Screw previous GM's, you mould the team in the image you want to take it. Good luck!

And don't settle for deals that you don't like. Everyone has value to someone else, it's just a matter of digging around to find who that someone is.

Just finished my roster spreadsheet; it will be posted on my team board on August 8th. My cap-hit is currently at $45,183,333 - I'm $3,116,667 below the floor. It is unlikely I'll be looking to acquire a sizable contract as I'm waiting on news of one RFA who hasn't signed a contract yet.
Players no longer available: Seidenberg, Glennie, Raymond, Couture, Steen, Brouwer, Neil, Wisniewski, and Granlund.
I wonder if Bergey will be pleased with the players/prospects I've acquired for the above.

You must at minimum list your players for search purposes, such as this:

I don't quite get the meaning of this sentence, but it looks like you've listed your players for search purposes. Thanks.
