I can't believe it, I miss my chance. I had Olesz on the block and he's a super super star.

I think Nash's name makes the trade look worse than it really is.

no, that's why i made the deal. but the deal wasn't versteeg for nash anyway. he got penner on top of that who kills penalties and hits and is in a pretty cant miss situation as a part of LA's top six.

if this was penner + versteeg + schroeder for tanguay or ribeiro or briere (all of whom put up more pts and are better h2h than nash) no one would bat an eye lash.

i paid for the name.

Lol

Penner was pretty miss in LA last season when he got traded with like 6 points in 19 games. He also doesn't really hit much at all, 90 hits in 81 games iirc. In fact Nash had more hits iirc than penned last year. Versteeg and his mouthguard are fucking brutal.

Also, Nash has had dick all to play with in Columbus and has still been 70ish point player. He should put up some great numbers this season IMO.

+2 for Anton

6 pts in first 10 games in LA then guess what happened...

hint: he lost both his linemates in the span of 2 games: kopi's ankle, william's shoulder

penner - kopitar- williams was dynamite immediately after the trade up until the injuries

22 pts in 10 games as a line. i had it together on my bbkl team for a reason. now i just got bored.

We will see what he does this year.

Penner is a huge underachiever IMO.

Whatever though, amazing pull for you. If it was ME moving Nash, i'd have demanded (in a nice way lol) Oshie coming back at least.

Penner was very much carried by Williams and Kopitar during that span. Once they left him. 2 points in 18 games or something (that includes playoffs).

oshie brings a hell of a lot more to the table than nash.

what would you have added? :)

Nash also clown stomps all over the guys you traded to get him lol ;).

As for if I was making the trade with you? Main piece I would have wanted coming back is Oshie + and if you would have said that's a no go. I probably would have been cool with that because IMO Nash's value is only going to go up this year now that he finally has some damn help in Columbus. I would have wanted no part of Penner or Versteeg (versteeg particularly).

Oh well :)

not sold really on carter and nash being a good tandem. there's only 1 puck.

but i supposed finally having another decent guy to play with cant hurt (or can it?)

Honestly, I don't even know if they play on the same line regularly at ES, definitely on the same PP though.

I just like how they will finally be able to run multiple scoring lines in Columbus which should in turn create a little bit more room for Nash on the ice as teams shouldn't be able to constantly put their best checkers out against him as they would then have to worry about the Carter line.

U don't have to defend me brother anton. We had a decent talk that's all that matters. I still do feel that the name in itself plays a bigger role than we all think. Nash is going to be nothing short of solid, and kapG has a very good point about Penner. But ur not praising me so FUK UUUUUU

as i sat here doing my yoga this morning I was thinking about it some more Paul....

Overall, nothing has really changed, I still don't like the players you got in return for Nash. However, the trade should be beneficial to your team since you are going to be getting two players who see consistent minutes. If all goes well for them too (aka they don;t play like ass), you could always flip them at some point in the season or after the season for a decent return probably.

Edit: Just wanted to throw it out there... All that really matters Paul, is that you like the trade. Tons of people haven't like some of the trades I have made while GM of the Rangers. Fuck them though :).

I like this deal for Carolina. It looks like he's getting more depth and line-up consistency as there are no numbers for player averages in this league - only counting stats. It bodes well for him as I think Nash it a bit overrated because he's a brand player - not necessarily the performer that some circles of hockey fans think he is.

Chris. If you want to talk overrated players. Lets talk about Penner and Versteeg please.

As for Nash, he has had a whole bunch of NOTHING to play with while in Columbus yet he still manages to put up 65-75 points every year.

Like you said though and like I mentioned. Carolina gets depth at least.
