Still kinda like it for NJ more... the two pieces are pretty decent, and will total up enough to match Clowe's depth, but still would rather one guy in Clowe. That 1st rounder prolly going to be no better than 28-29th overall, but I guess a decent return on top of Upshall and Brouwer.

This over Anisimov, D'Agostini, Gallagher and a 2nd.
Alright then.

This is better than the Anisimov offer. Brouwer and Upshall are solid pieces. Not to mention the 1st.
There is an epidemic in this league that assumes that Scott wins every trade he makes. This is a great trade all around.

Upshall is terrible. Not even just kind of terrible. Absolutely terrible.
Brouwer is a decent 30 point guy who hits.
Anisimov is a borderline 1st line center, D'Ago had 46 points and nice h2h stats. Gallagher is a stud. 2nd round pick can play almost any position.
Whatever, like I told Chris. I don't care to argue about how he runs his team. He took a worse offer.

Wow...Scott has Florida's number. This is a horrible value trade.
Ryan Clowe is the same player as David Backes, and David Backes has commanded superior value at every stop in BBKL thus far.

I dont feel clowe is at the level as backes value wise. look at this comparison.
http://bbkl.hockey.cbssports.com/player ... p/scoring?
I realize mac isnt as good as either of them but threw him in for fun as his stats arent that far off of clowes lol. Backes is simply a super beast. I wouldn't get him and Clowe mixed up, at least not H2H wise. Real life it's probably a lot closer.
BTW I find that offer better than the Anisimov offer as well, far better. I also know from talks with Chris a week or so ago, that this is the best offer he had received for Clowe. If you feel Chris lost this there is no one to blame but yourself, he took the best offer he got.

The only major difference I see there is SHTOI...I stand by my argument.

if you make that argument, you have to argue that clowe and macarthur have the same value. Check this out:
Backes had 7 more goals than Clowe did. Clowe only had 3 more than MacArthur.
Backes had 18 more BS than Clowe. Clowe only had 2 more than mac.
Backes had 60 more hits than Clowe. Clowe only had 38 more than Mac.
Now you can argue Clowe has more assists than Backes but Mac has more than clowe. I realize clowe is better than mac in alot of areas, PIMs, SOG and Hits to name those that are big, but Backes kills clowe in more categories and by bigger margins than Clowe does Mac. So if clowe is roughly the same as backes, mac is roughly the same as clowe. I think both statements are wayy off base and stats show it. Again this is a stats argument not real life play.
I can't believe I took ten mins to make this argument but I feel its way off base and overly critical of Chris. I don't feel trade is that bad.

Ye, Scott lost this deal IMO. But as I've said before, when you rape and pillage in other deals, small losses to get the piece you need is do-able.

oh and clowe might actually be better then backes in real life, but h2h he's not the same beast. Although i'd be happy to have either on my roster (Mac too for that matter).

Well, although I do love Clowe, this was a move that needed to be done, to help my team go forward. I did this for 3 reasons.
1. I actually believe this is a pretty fair deal. Upshall had a terrible yr last season, and is almost guaranteed to bounce back having every opportunity to crack the top line in FLA. Brouwer is also looking to and should for the first time crack the top 6 in WSH and also improve on his weak stats last season. I believe this is a fair deal and the COL 1st evens if not slightly tilts this in my direction.
2. This now sets me up better to get something done with my goaltending at some point. Before it probably would of taken Clowe + prospect or picks (depending of goalie) to get something done. I would of had my goalie, but would of taken a huge hit at wing. Now I could package a decent forward + decent D-man + backup + prospect or picks (again depends on goalie) and still end up with a decent lineup all the way through...
3. Clowe is fantastic and one of my favorite in real life NHL hockey..He is pretty damn good at H2H too, but if you look very closely at his #'s, I think he is slightly overrated. When a player gets very good pts, and could also hits like a truck, and gets Pim's this happens, but once you look a little closer and compare all stats, he is still awesome, but is slightly overrated.
