Simply put, this is one of the most idiotic trades I have ever seen in this league...

No more than a week ago, Topher paid the following for Simon Gagne,

Brett Sutter
Tomas Tatar
2010 1st Rounder (CGY) - 26
2010 3rd Rounder (ATL) - 64
2010 3rd Rounder (TOR) - 71

And then today he turns around and swaps Gagne for the following package,

2010 1st Rounder (CHI) - 24
2010 3rd Rounder (ANA) - 77
2010 4th Rounder (WSH) - 104

Topher essentially gave up a top prospect (Tatar), a middle of the road prospect (Sutter), and two higher mid picks (66 & 71 compared to 77 and 104) to move up two spots from 26 to 24. Am I missing something? Because this is seriously baffling to me...I am convinced Topher was drunk, there is NO WAY he could be this stupid, or am I missing a big piece of this deal? If so I appologise.

i think he had a change of heart regarding reasonable categories to target with his $ veterans.... i'm sure he'd rather have tatar too dude... not always how it breaks down...

There is no defending this move...It's a clear cut loss, unless Topher is able to draft a star at 24, that he otherwise wouldn't have gotten at 26...LOL

BTW I'm not attacking you personally Topher, merely this move.

There is no "maybe", you made a horrible trade. I'm not being ignorant, straight up you gave up far more than you got in return, that is a fact.
