Nice. Talbot will be getting a shitload of ice-time this year I think.

I think he will have a very similar role to the one he played in pitts, doubt he gets any more ice time. Oh also note that at every practice this year he has skated as a winger. Sorry mash but I love this for Shiv.

Ice-time in terms of SHTOI. With Richards gone, and Schenn relatively green, I expect the majority of SHTOI time to fall on Talbot and Betts. 250+ isn't out of the question. Mash got a nice deal here. Who knows where Henrique goes from here, and that first could be useless.

he averaged almost three mins a game last year....I don't see that growing as that is already pretty high up there.

On a green team like Philadelphia, I wouldn't be surprised at all. Betts can only do so much with SHTOI time. Someone's going to have to spell him, or work with him. I forget if Powe's still in Philadelphia though.

Don't be surprised if Brayden Schenn/Sean Couturier start racking up the SHTOI

Schenn, maybe. Couturier will get a shitload of SHTOI time for sure. In Drummondville.

I have no doubt he will get a ton of shtoi, its just how much more can you take on? Philly was one of the most penalized teams last year and betts avg 3:37 shtoi per game which isnt much over talbots 2:55. I dont know how much more a player can handle. He make get 250+ next year but thats not a massive improvement on 239 which he had last year. That number also put him 7th in the league for total shtoi. I have no doubt he will pk a ton, but honestly how much more shtoi can one guy handle? His value honestly has not changed since his arrival in PHI, he is the same player in the same role. at least imo.

Giroux pk'ed as much as Richards last season, and despite the fact that he didn't pk on LA, I suspect Wayne Simmonds will be used in that role on PHI.

well said. btw, with Zajac out, look for Henrique to get a solid chance in NJD.

Well, an extra 15 seconds of SHTOI per game is another 20 minutes over a full year -- an extra 30 seconds is 40 minutes. Laviolette isn't known as a passive coach - he'll be pushing the boys to dictate the physical tempo, which means a lot of PIMs. And a lot of SHTOI opportunity. However, I didn't really think about Richards and Carcillo being pushed out of town. Maybe the SHTOI will go down after all.

But that's just one category. Talbot likes to hit, and with the minutes he'll get playing a potential shutdown role (depends on his linemates of course) and Schenn's progression, it's not unreasonable to expect an uptick across the board. 5 points? 10 even? I guess the only concern is his faceoff skills. I think he's a sub-50% guy throughout his career.

More likely then Brayden Schenn so far. Still not Luke Adam, Erik Gudbranson or Nino Niederietter though.
