I bet Kareem told him if that was the case.H MART wroteCOLONOr Shep just had no idea
Yep. Solid. It also builds a solid trading relationship. Somewhere down the line you may need your back up from Kareem and he'll be happy to help you out. Last year Mik rejected Ville Leino + 2nd DET (32nd overall) for Braden Holtby from me in the span of two weeks where both Varly and Neuvy were injured. Caused me to lose in Round 1 of the Playoffs. Caused Mik to have a 3rd string goalie who will never get that kind of value again.Shep wroteCOLONI knew he was likely to make the team because of Clemmensen's injury. Kareem PM'd me and said "PHI 3rd Rounder for Tyler Plante" I figured, there is no way I'll ever get this value again for Plante, so I accepted.
No hostage whatsoever, offer and accept. Not even a counter-offer. Quickest talks you can ever have.
I was not referring to the Tokarski situation at all. Read above ^.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLONIf there's a player being held "hostage" it's because someone like Tokarski will likely be the eventual starter at some point. Why would I trade him away for a 3rd Rounder? Plante, I understand from Shep's perspective because he's right, Plante will likely not be worth a 3rd Rounder down the road.
Tokarski? Salak? How many knew Reimer would be the starter last year? Anything can change, and if there's a perception of a player being held hostage, it's likely for a good reason.
Nah it's just a dickish move to do for a fucking backup goalieCuntacular Chris wroteCOLONIf there's a player being held "hostage" it's because someone like Tokarski will likely be the eventual starter at some point. Agreed. Guys like Cory Schneider, Markstrom, Bernier etc I understand. But there's a difference.H MART wroteCOLONNah it's just a dickish move to do for a fucking backup goalieCuntacular Chris wroteCOLONIf there's a player being held "hostage" it's because someone like Tokarski will likely be the eventual starter at some point. I was referring to Paul. Wasn't thinking of you. Honest. The Devil wroteCOLONI'm not holding Salak hostage at all. Nobody has even made an offer.
That just damages the trade relationship. A back-up goalie should never be held hostage. One day you'll need your back-up and someone else will do the same to you. The wins/losses even out. But the relationship is damaged.bills09 wroteCOLONIm Guilty of holding a player "Hostage"
If only one GM needs that player obviously im gonna hold out for more value...
It has happened to me lolSuperMario wroteCOLONThat just damages the trade relationship. A back-up goalie should never be held hostage. As an example, I recall you talking about how Cliff wanted the world for Giguere when you needed him. A few days later Shooker traded him to you for fair value and you were thrilled.
Regardless. Should be an unwritten law IMO.bills09 wroteCOLONIt has happened to me lolSuperMario wroteCOLONThat just damages the trade relationship. A back-up goalie should never be held hostage. Mik wanted Tyler Myers for Holtby
And I went I got Shook Biron in that deal..
it worked because we both got what we needed.
I recall overpaying for Biron as well.
