i like kareem here. pavelski for staal straight up works for me, the 2nd was unneccessary from nick i think.

this is exactly what me and kareem agreed upon.... he didn't know why i'd do it... either did i, but said i would... time will tell? does he get a lucic with that pick? does staal get traded to TO and become a #1 ? value wise he won... i hope something changes....but honestly i have nothing wrong with both of us being happy with the trade moving forward.

ie-> kessel scored 50g 100pts, seguin becomes a solid 70 pts player... both bruins and leafs would be happy.

i think in a few years the whole world will see the gap between staal and pavelski. staal is still 21 btw. pavelskis great but nick wins big.

Don't be surprised to see Pavelski score 70 next year. That with the 2nd gives the edge to Kareem ...

you said you were going to trade joe but I didnt take you seriously. Kareem does win imo but it could be far worse, Staal is still a champ in this league. btw just cause a guy is from ontario and is burried or a free agent does not mean he is coming to toronto.....

i like kareem's side more as well.. but they are both great.. but people don't realise that a 2nd means nothing if you can get the guy you want and think is better long term..
if staal is thatttt gd that he can prevent the end of the world in 2012 then ya nick will win huge..

Washington win this deal for sure. The 2nd was way too much. even straight up Washington win. I don t see Staal leaving Pittsburgh.
I see Malkin Leaving and Staal get the 2nd line gig. I love Staal but at the moment he s stuck in the 3rd line role and with 60 Max pts.
Mean while Pavelski might take over the 1st line and bring is total pts at 80 pts for the 2010-2011 season.

dude... #1 in SJS... is that some type of joke?

it's more likely that Pavelski changes his # to 1 then he takes first line from Jumbo.....

i'm more then fine with 60 pts out of staal... i think you need to check how many players get 80pts frank.. the list is not long and the names are HUGE.

though i'd wager there is a staal with 80 pts in 2010-2011

Pavelski greater than Big Joe....I dont know what kinda air you are breathing out in quebec but thats way off the truth. great player elite second liner but carring the scoring for a franchise dont see it

I'm just saying I would rather have a guy who play s on the 2nd line and could even get 1st line minute then a 3rd line Center.
If Big continues to play like he does then for sure he ll get replace. He did wow me in the playoff and I would rather have Pevlski on my team then a shocker name Joe Thorton 12 pts in 15 games, not good enough. Pavelski had 17 pts in 15 games. I know it might be a one time thing and Thornton is the 3rd highest pts getter since the lookout. I ain t stupid just saying that thornton is more skilled but he s no where to be found in the playoff.

2005-2006- 9pts in 11 games
2006-2007- 11pts in 11 games
2007-2008- 10 pts in 13 games
2008-2009- 5 pts in 6 games
2009-2010- 12 pts in 15 games

and he never had more then 3 goals in the playoff and that was back in 1998-1999 with Boston. Just saying rather have a guy that show up for the most important game then a guy that play is al during the seasona dn have nothing left for the playoff. My favorite player was and still is Sergei Fedorov. He would play normal durng the season and play out of is mind during the playoff, just like how Briere is. Like Briere is way more impressive in in the playoff then Big Joe.

Briere is 79 pts in 81 games compare to Big Joe- 65 pts in 91 games during the post season.

there is way more to then just the points.

Jumbo is focused on, very very specific level... and he's not a goal scorer, why do people mention his goals? Jumbo was awesome this year in the playoffs... if marleau or healtely were finishing their scoring chances he'd have a nice total... but having shooters miss their shots makes the setup guys look bad too.

this also leaves pavelski's line away from the matchup....

anyways... I love pavelski, it took me all year to get him off of neel...LOL.... but he's not going to carry a teams offence

I'm not gonna lie, I think I won huge here, Staal has to be one of the most overrated players in the game, great reach, good on dot and superb on the pk, but there isn't a ton outside of that area he does well...Avg with and a good not great shot. I constantly here about his hands, and I completely disagree, he's a push and skate forward, he has made a few nice moves over his career, but so has Wayne Primeau, anyone think he's got great hands? I like Staal, but hes overrated, and has no right going 2nd overall in 06. This kid has never put up 70 points in his career (including Jr). Yes, he plays the third line in Pits, but he doesn't play third line minutes, he's often put on the second line, while Malkin and Sid play together on the first line. Yet he has never carried a line. I suppose if he is traded (big IF) than there is a chance he notches 70, I personally don't see it though. Staal is great in this league because of his periphery totals, Pavelski puts up comparable periphery totals, better in certain cats (FOW, BS), worse in others (SHTOI, HITS), but has superior offensive ability.

kareem u are spot on the jordan is over-rated... no quesiton in my mind.

i was dead serious when i said that I consider staal for pavelski a wash... Epic Joe is a traffic skater, and a creative passer... and despite perceptions, I'd wager he's better on the dot.... he's in a more offensive role and plays with better linemates...and was like ppg in the final 20 gams and into the playoffs (after a slow start).... me adding the 2nd was silly....

with that said, IMO there is more left in staal's potential then there is in pavelski's... ie-> epic could easily grow into 30g, 70pts in an offence role with the current line-mates (and not being matched up against). IMO staal has 40goal potential... though 40A seems unlikely with his lack of creative offensive play...

but he's actually still just 21 years old !!! and kareem he's got a pretty wicked shot... and his nice plays are notably nicer then anything wayne P. ever busted out!
