Bump.. testing the market for the best young tough guy in the NHL. tied for the league lead in PIMs with 73 in 14 games.. and he has 28 hits (2 per game). He's only 21 and with more toi, he could be a big time h2her.. minus the offense probably but he can play a bit. Also, Flyers brass absolutely loves this kid.

dunno how you see him moving up the depth there... they have grit up and down their lineup, he's gritty on a team with excessive grit.

Agreed. That said, I think he's secured a place in the line-up even with Shelley in there.

Because he's a good player? If Jody Shelley's a regular on that team then Zac Rinaldo's an allstar

He's very physical and a good skater who shows a complete lack of respect towards other players in the game...but is tough himself in addition to being on a team that always backs-each-other... but a good NHL hockey player? Better then anyone on their roster aside from Shelly?

Obviously you haven't watched him play that much, I've been following him since 2008 and he's actually a fairly respectable player with a few exceptions.. he just plays VERY hard.. always has. You always know when Rinaldo's on the ice.. you can usually hear him or the gloves quickly come off. Also, he's played a total of 14 NHL games and he probably averages 5 minutes of ice in those games.. he is a good player but his role is his role. With more experience and confidence from the coaching staff, I think he'll be a fine player. Certainly a guy who can lead the league in PIMs, be among the leaders in hits, and put up 20-30 points. He's not just some bum who fights.. which I get the impression that's what you think.. and you're not only I'm sure.

I've seen enough of the flyers games to form an impression of him; and remember him from the last (2?) pre-seasons as well. This guy/kid was a 20-30 point OHLer who couldn't stick on any of those rosters, certainly very little indication that he has more in him then a fringe 4th liner who hits and fights; and if he wants to make a career out of it he'll need to show a lot more respect in his game, IMO.
