I have a question...

Why were teams who were given compensation picks in the waiver draft allowed to trade them away? The idea of a compensation is to bring the competition level up and try and help new gms who took over for prior GM's that made mistakes. I am just curious as to why this was allowed. Maybe i am looking at it the wrong way.

The compensation was an extra asset, if they chose to deal it for pieces that better fit their team, why not?
