I didn't even look at the stat sheet. And don't get me wrong, I like Gardiner a lot and think you made a good deal here as Goligoski is pretty overrated imo but I think MDZ has the ability to be special. Physical, smooth skater, getting better and better defensively, and has the offensive tools to be compared with some of the best PPQB's.

I don't see the same potentialnin MDZ, but I see a lot of DK -esq type # 1 in Jake. Not there yet.

Michael Del Zotto is an incredibly talented offensive player, but lacks the IQ to match. That is why Del Zotto has never been the superstar his skills suggest he should be. The comparison to Gardiner isn't even close, Jake Gardiner has already shown more defensively than MDZ has at any point in his NHL career, but to each his own, IMO.

It's also worth noting that Jake Gardiner is younger, and a higher pick in the same draft year, so clearly it's not only Leaf fans who like Gardiner more.
