aight, so there are few teams with 2 starters... which GM's don't have a starting goalie? we need to remind about required goalie games played.

see I figure with Kipper AND bernier I will have over 100 starts...wayyyyyyy too many IMO. Not to mention I still have Legace I think.
So I am kinda just exploring the possibility of letting go of one of the elite goalies in this league because of the fact that I have one in the pipes that I think is going to be the future in LA. Risky to move kipper before Bernier takes the job 100%? Absolutely but that is why I am waying my options here. Want to see what kind of talent I can get to improve my teams overall quality/depth.
It's just weird to see a ton of GM's in this league with shitty goaltending and they don't even inquire about the asking price to get an elite tender on their team lol.
It really is flabergasting (sp?)!!

At the same time you should be more patient I don't believe you are going to have over a 100 starts I don't see LA saying to their 24 year old starter who last season played 72 games posting 39 wins with a 2.54 GAA and a .907 Save % and helped them get to the playoffs oh sorry we have someone new IF Bernier gets in it won't be for more than 20 games I don't think. So I think your in an ideal position to keep your goalies because you have a guy near the end of his career and a young guy that if he doesn't get his shot there will be moved and will get his shot soon.

LA told bernier years ago when he was ready after developing in the AHL he would be given EVERY oppurutunity to be the starting goalie in LA. I am pretty sure he has developed as much as he ever will in the AHL. I see the LA goaltending situation being like the Boston one this year with Bernier pulling a rask and taking that starting job. Why wouldn't LA trade Quick if Bernier is ready? They didn't put all this effort into developing him all these years just to trade him away.
BEsides, quick hasn't posted the greatest numbers or anything AND he choked away the playoffs for LA. 907 SV% isn't anything great, neither is a 2.54 GAA on a stacked LA team.
I guess we have a difference of opinion.
Like I said too, I am not 100% looking to move Kipper here. He still has another 4 great seasons in him IMO. I just want to let people know that an elite starting goalie is available if the offer is right. I am exploring my options I guess you could say. Shocking too when I see people with terrible goaltending having no interest in him.

Has the flavor of Quick just left LA? I think he has just as much chance, if not more, than Bernier to be the man...

I completely disagree with you and Topher. Have you seen Bernier this past season in the AHL? He dominated, moreso than any other AHL goaltender in recent memory, including Schneider, and Rask. He even exceled in his limited starts with the big club, combine that with the fact that he is the guy in LA, and always has been, and it's easy to see why many believe he will take the starting reigns from Quick. Kid is just flat out better, and cheaper to boot.
I think Kaps comparison to Rask is a good one, both goaltenders seem to be in similar posisitions, mind you Bernier wasn't playing behind the raining Vezina winner...

I agree Bernier has played way better than expected and deserves a shot I just think that it is hard for them to be like forget you Quick so clearly one of them needs to be traded which if Bernier is as good as advertised then obviously they should trade Quick

No one is saying forget quick lol. I am just saying that LA is going to give Bernier the chance to outplay quick for the starting job in LA this year and in doing so he will show everyone that he is in fact, LA's #1. I mean, why wouldn't they? The numbers quick posted in the regular season were nothing special and then he choked away in the playoffs! Then you have the fact that Bernier has been told my LA management time and time again that when he is ready (which he clearly is now if you look at how he played this past season...even the one before) he will get the chance to compete for that number 1 job. Also, what does LA have to lose? If Bernier takes over they can use quick as a valid trading chip. It is a
win win situation for the LA kings.

I dunno dude, IMO Quick was more then solid, and I did not think he choked in the playoffs... they simply got outplayed... Goalie prospects are the LEAST sure thing of all-types of prospects... Sounds to me like people are over-hyping Steve here & ignoring with Jon has already accomplished.

what like posting a 907 SV% and a 2.54 GAA last season?
I mean, his career numbers are pretty much identical. 2.54 gaa and .908 SV%. What's so grand about those numbers?
about those playoff numbers too.
How is a 3.50 gaa and a SV% of .884 not choking?

Big difference between a goalie prospect, and a proven stud netminder at the AHL level, not to mention that he dominated in his limited starts at the NHL level. I also completely disagree with your second point, did you see Quick's numbers? He most certainly choked in the playoffs, and was a BIG reason why LA could not overcome the Nucks in the first round.

Quick is only 23.
Both goalies will be given the chance, that's for sure. We might see a developing story ala Price and Halak.
