LOL, nerds be-a-raging -> no sentence, just being held in Kiwi-land awaiting a hearing to be expedited (think that's what I just read). He was issues something like 300 cease and desist orders and is being charged with some insane # of piracy/copy-right-infringment crimes.... He won't get anywhere near that term, but I cannot blame the Lawyers of the entertainment industry for pursuing him.

The other case wasn't in US courts either... quick google search would tell you that (Spain).

I know, I know... it's more fun to simply be out-raged and blah blah blah.

That's so stupid. Piracy devalues the original files because the original value is in its own consumerism -- you copy a file, you're one less consumer. It's theft, through and thorough.

That image won't load for me but I assume it's referring to megaupload. Though I am massively opposed to SOPA/PIPA/ACTA and this timing is terrible, the folks at MU seem to be genuinely guilty of not responding to DMCA requests. The only thing that seems fishy about this is jurisdictional. Were they in NZ or the States?

still is NZ -> some 1999 treaty between the two countries, lots of lawyer work left for both sides before any outcome is known -> and that's just to get him back to the US.
