Nice trade for both guys. It's exactly what we talked about Chris!

Yep would of been nice to get a better pick, but the 2 make up for it...

Ya, it was close, and I even said your could very well be better. But I have lots of good prospects now, and I think come draft time I could probably get more out of those picks..

The rest of the deal was to be determined.. there was a few different options being floated back and forth

I'd have taken a pair of first with some comfort... McKegg is a good player no doubt, still rather unlikely to transition well into the NHL; lack of a projectable and transferable skill set into the pro's means he's still not a top 30 pick, especially in a strong draft like 2012.

Blah blah blah

Mckegg is the shit, he might not have superstar projections but he'll develop into a solid 6-9 guy.

This draft isnt even that good outside the top 11 picks........
but id probably still take a pair of 1sts over Kegger.

I beg to differ. Greg McKegg is thought by many to be the steal of the 2010 draft. He definitely has the tools to be a top end NHL player and is easily more valuable then a couple late 1st round picks. He's also further along in development then those picks too. I was likely going to add another rather solid piece and a 2nd round pick too. Chris and I were throwing a few names out there but he wanted VAN 1st 2013 or Dougie Hamilton.. and I wasn't prepared to even consider that.

Anyway, to each their own I guess. I just think people feel McKegg's not a top end piece because of where he was drafted. IMO, he's probably the Leafs best prospect outside the pro level.

lol, I just threw Hamilton out there, and to a lesser degree Van 1st because you have to at least try. I was fully expecting to get shot down. Scott made a very good offer, and I told him it could very well be better than what I accepted....I just liked Mikes deal better...

I'll take Biggs with a ear to ear smile over Mr.McKegg; OHL scoring star as an over-ager, never seen one of them fail to make the show before :P

Joking aside, he's a nice prospect who is better then expected, much further along in development, but i don't think he's equal to a first rounder in this draft.
