Fantasy Baseball Keeper League

Why don't we see the interest in a fantasy baseball keeper league. I was tossing around the idea of tossing out a list and getting GM's to pick a team of their choice (like we did originally with this league).

However, it may be an easier solution if we each take the baseball team within the same city/state as NHL team. For those cities in Canada that do not have a baseball team they would just take the closest MLB team. For example, the Nucks and Cliff would take the Seattle Mariners. Then you have teams like the Habs, who's closest teams include Boston, NY, etc.... Chuck would take an Eastern team where that city had no NHL team.

Anyways, i'm just tossing out some ideas, i know i'd enjoy a baseball league, and this is just an idea....we could do anything from sign up for a team of our choice, we could pick names/teams from a hat or we could do a lottery draft for all of our players and prospects.

If there is interest here i'd love to hear it, because with some help i'd like to get this going within the next month or so (if possible)

Steve

I already am running a fantasy keeper league with a few guys from this in it, but I'd be willing to drop that in favor of a more BBKL style league if there was interest. I have a handful of guys who would likely join as well.

I'll get on MSN over the holidays and get some feedback, i'd assume there would be interest in the following guys:

Mike
Shiv
Kareem
both Kyle's
Pete
Josh
Shoalzie
Paul
Billy
(not sure about Shep?)
Chuck
Anton
Seems like Hong is pretty interested!
(not sure about Shook with his travels?)
i'm sure we could convince Nick to join as well!

Tony, not sure you like baseball? but you're Amiercan, it's in your blood.
I know Arian likes football, but our Eagles suck, so im assuming we can talk you in?

And from my msn talks with everyone i'm not sure who else likes baseball, i never got a reading from guys like Bry or Cliff........ but soon i'll be pressing you guys for some answers, it would be nice to transfer a full 30 guys from this league to start a baseball league. It would make for some interesting trade talks!

Sounds good Steve, let me know if you want a hand I'll be around a fair bit over the next couple weeks, but am very interested in getting this up and running.

I just landed back in Canada and will be here for a few months. That being said, I have zero interest in a baseball keeper league. Hopefully it works out for you boys though.

Shep, stop being a slow horse, it's not where you are from it's where your hockey team is from. You'd be the Cardinals, I'd be the Angles, mike would get the jays, and so on...

;)

Solid idea but count me out, Steve. My baseball knowledge extends to only what I read in Moneyball. I will definitely be following the Jays this year though.

With your statistical background it wouldn't take long, baseball is predominantly about the numbers. In a fantasy league it is solely about the numbers.

How big of a league are we talking about? Will this be BBKL-like?

My initial lean is no only because I'm in enough baseball leagues as it is.

Not sure if this has any bearing but I'd likely shut down my other league in favor of this one Shoalzie.

I would think we could all pick teams we want, and when there is more than one person wanting a team then we can figure something out.

Edit: I am working on drawing up a set of rules as we speak.

if this was 1989 I would be all over this ... I don't think I can name two players on my "favorite" team growing up at this point (Oakland)

I miss Dennis Eckersley
