I hate some people... and its embarrassing when they are leaf fans.
Steve Dangle Somebody just asked me about a rumour on Twitter: N. Wallin and Setoguchi from SJ to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Kaberle. Setoguchi regressed last season with 36 points in 70 games and had 8 & 10 game pointless streaks. Only 23, but there's still no way this happens.
fair enough... seto had a rough year... myself i'd be pumped.... Dangle is far from, dumb, love that he's a leaf fan... but this reponse... nope:
Alex D @ the "Wallin just sign a deal" comments...well a player needs to be under contract for you to trade him.
And two, Seto isn't really what I'm looking for as a return from Kabby. Last year he was basically Kulemin...minus the size and physical play, and without any defensive responsibility...so a vastly inferior Kulemin...
Seriously...I'll take a pass on this one.
sounds to me like someone he hasn't seen play... I've rarely if ever had the urge to offer commentary/facts on a player I haven't seen play / read enough about.... unless of course its a tactical decision.... and if they were that far out I'd add IMO... cause... Seto is beast in his own right... I'd Love to add him.
worse-> this whole thing is from and
eklund rumour... people need to stop visiting his site.

I find some people hilarious like Bob Mackenzie. "Bernier is not what you call a physical player" hmm would you describe a guy who lead the nucks in 08-09 in hits with close to 200 and who led us in hits until he was injured this year. No way thats not a physical player at all. He definatly shys away from the rough stuff. Way to watch western hockey Bobby Mac!!! Sometimes people shouldnt give there opinions, if you know nothing about the player dont comment on him! When I was asked about oreskovic coming over in the ballard deal I said I know nothing about the guy. Is that so hard lol. Its funny every non canucks fan in BC says canucks fans are soo dumb when they talk rumours. To them (CLIFF) this is what I am talking about when I say this happens everywhere lol!

my point exactly, but if you watch the games...hell look at the stats even you see that he is. He had to be to make our lineup!

personally i kinda think this its a situation where the #'s lie... throwing checks is very different from truly being physical... I believe Datsyuk and Crosby have respectable hit #'s, but neither is close to phsyical...
Ie by the #'s Bernier is more physical then Pronger... but I'd love to hear/see someone try and make that case.
even this year Bernier had 105 hits...but i think the truth is it speaks more to the complete lack of physical game by the canucks... top hitting dman = 112. I believe Luke was close to 200, Dion & Komi were close to 100 in less then 30 games, XLBY near 100 in 50ish...now that sissy beaucheim... w/o looking I think he was in the 60's...LOL... what crap year for him... but as my examples show, #'s are not even half the story.
ps-> just checked the #'s.. luke with 173 ins 79, Dion with 69 in 26 !!!! and Komi with 84 in 34 & injured!!! ... Phyllis rocking out a career high 13... thats the burke factor right there.

I find hit stats are so inconsistent throughout the league. Who are the cronies taking those stats? i always wondered what a hit was. Some stat guys record a gentle bump as a hit where others only count a hit when the guy is knocked down. Like the guys in Minny counting Clutterbucks hits are so excited by him if he tries to hit someone and runs into the glass they count it as a hit. Very subjective stat.

just look no further too poni. People would try to claim he was a physical monster because of all the "hits" he had recorded.
Most of them were rub outs my fucking grandmother with 2 replacement knees could handle.

ye Kyle, I found that too.. whoever records hits for CGY only counts bone crushers...and barely even that; Dion, Regher, & Jaybo hit notably more then their stats indicate (I was watching games where dion nearly killed a guy , crushed a few others, and in total planted 5+ guys on their ass, only to be credited with 3 hits on the game).
I also found WSH gives out hits like crazy!!!! whereas whoever does the flyers is tough to earn a hit from (seriously... Pronger at 104? what was that in? a shift?)

Back toi Bernier when he was traded to the Sabres they traded for him hoping for that physical sense and I dont know what the exact counts for hits were but he did not live up to it with his actual play. I think it is just something about coming to Buffalo lol.

I dont know man I consider a physical winger a guy that hits, goes to the corners and battles in front of the net. He is a physical player 100% no argument when he is on his game. The problem is he is lazy....thats why he floats sometimes and was a scratch for us. When playing he can be a physical force. Also the Canucks forcing a diet on him really affected his physical game. He didnt lean into guys nearly as much this year. He lost weight but also alot of strength. I am just saying it shows mackenzie never watches the nucks for him to say bernier isnt a physical player. that was my only point, not that bernier is a champ because he is far from it.
also 105 hits yes but in 59 games. stats dont always tell the truth but thats a bigh enough ratio to say he hits quite regularily.

agreed, he does indeed play very physical and well....when we wants too. He seems to get into this extreme lazy stretches where he under-performs for like weeks at a time. Bad Newz Bears. he has the potential to be a good consistent third line guy, just needs to live up to it.
