I don't know if it does make him better
Val Filp is down the depth chart is Det and who's to say Pronger is better than Gonchar
still a big trade, but if i had to vote i think the ducks win

Filppula is in the top 6 the ending to his year was great, and Pronger is at the very least equal to Gonchar when you look at the difference in the intangibles.

I think Flips will be climbing the depth chart in Detroit, look at his stats in limited games. Pronger on his new deal is cheaper than Gonchar and the same age. Points wise maybe similar, but the intangibles especially shot blocking is what I was missing. There is a reason I paid so much to get these two guys back.

Pronger >> Gonchar
And Filp > brunette (aging winger who isnt that productive vs a top 6 forward who will get faceoffs as well). check his stats he got about 19 minutes per game in detroit last year (he was 4th in icetime per game after datsyuk zetterberg franzen). with the number of contenders in this league with a solid core of centers, neel is working his way up (getz, backstrom, ribeiro, filp)

It's Thorthon, Backstrom, Flippula, Riberio, Regin.
A formidable team down the center if I've ever seen one.

You are definitely pretty sick down the middle and you have a nice load of solid assets to get better. I totally understand the logic behind this deal. You have to give to get! People here need to pay attention, that's how its done.
